for a first heli the Rappy 30 is perfect and unless u are a complete natural or flying 10 gallons a week u won't grow out of it for YEARS. (not saying u won't find your feminine side and buy stuff u dont need.)
I'm sure the servos with the dx will be fine. but on a R30 u can get away with 10 quid servos such as futaba 3001 or JR 591 for years.
Zimmerman exhausts are brill, quiet and strong but expensive.
ur spot on with the gyro.
An OS 32 SXH ring has always been an easy to use and powerfull motor. the 37 is querky and wants to be reved all the time (great for 3d bad for learning)
stick any old good quality fuel in thats readily availiable to u. e.g wildcat, magnum, coolpower. 15% nitro is plenty.
running and crashing a 50 is MUCH more expensive.
DONT UPGRAGE THE HELI. ITS FINE AS IT IS.

Apparently Jason Krause and the Zabos's are over in Taiwan testing it out for the next month, expected to be on sale in April. If nothing else it should make Thunder Tiger sharpen their pencils a bit

sure you use more fuel but compared to the cost of upgrading to a 50 its nothing.
Sure in the days of training undercarridges it would take years to outgrow a 30 these days more and more are willing to buddy box and the sims rock now too so the early stages of learning to hover and circuits happen a lot quicker.
sorry colin :-)

anybody can be an Arsehole, it takes real commitment, dedication and a whole lot of effort to be nice.
Okay I have had a Raptor 30 with a T.T 39 and an O.S 37 after that T.T died.
Now I fly a Kinght 50 pro...
go for the 50 size it is worth the extra starting cash out lay. Repairs are not far from a 30 although a Knight is cheaper you can tell what parts as well...
But if a Knight Sport does fly like the Knight Pro then you'll save over the Raptor 30 kit. The basic raptor 30 kit needs the bearing upgrade with it.
Knight is what 189 for a 50 machine a basic O.S 50 would be fine the Hyper is for people who like to really thrash the machine about.
Although a Raptor titan's are very very nice.
Go for a 50 machine with an O.S 50
you will out grow a 30 within a year so consider if you want to spend another
70 pounds raptor upgrade kit to 50 parts then 140ish engine and 50 for a muffler total 260ish pounds
Apart form the blades, boom, belt and engine, everything else is the same so the there is no difference in price parts for a 30 or a 50 Raptor.
The blades will always be a killer in a crash because that is the mose expensive part so carbon 30 size blades (let's say £35), Carbon 50 size (let's say £45). But is you are only hovering and flying gentle around the place most people are giving away woodies as no one uses them.

I broke my NHP pros so I'm back on my poor condition woodies and sticking with em for a few more weeks so if you have a spare set...
I have never ever flown with woodies, all the kits I have had I gave the woodies away (for a drink).
I started out in April last year with a Raptor 30 (V1), buy May I got ride of the 30 and bought a brand new Raptor 50 Titan, I loved it so much I bought a second new Titan a few months later.
So if you are quick learner and you think you may want to progress, get a 50 size heli as the cost to convert form 30 to 50 is more than just buying a 50 to start with, you can slow the head speed to make it fly like a 30 or crank it up and have some fun
