What switches are we supposed to use for ail/elev and rudder dual rates and expo?

Futaba 10. Am I correct in assuming you assign dual rates and expo to all flight conditions? I've always flown with no expo or dual rates.

Right, well I don't know the Futaba 10 tx I'm afraid. But if you have never used dual rates or expo before then its probably just as well to stick with the way you learnt in the first place

Anyone else? I don't think dual rates and expo are an absolute neccesity to fly, they are just another aid, depending on your flying style and machine. I just want to make sure I put them on the right switches, and surely the switches are in much the same position on all makes?

IMO, you don't need dual rates when using expo. Expo is like having both rates on simulataneously in a way. It tames the controls down at centre stick to remove any twitchy feel, but allows full travel when needed.

If you've never used expo, I'd recommend maybe -15% on futaba.

AFAIk, you can assign it to any switch, its really personal preference. Personally I use the 3 way on my 7C for IDLE UP and one of the 2 way switches for expo/dual rates, which tbh I never change.

BTW, how do you find the 10FG? I'm tempted to get the 8FG to replace my 7C 35Mhz.

              This might help.
You should be able to download the manual for your tx here >>>>> Futaba® Product Manuals

i have the 10 and it feels great and the responce time is awsome i got the 10 with the detachable 2.4 module so i could still use my 35mhz recevers by adding the Synthesised Tx Module as i have quite a few planes and at the time replacing them all with 2.4 recevers was just to much
and what you said above is right i have ail/elev expo set on swich D at 20% you dont really need expo on rudder

I went from the 9 to the 10, I'm not sure just how different it is, it has more points on the throttle and pitch curves, but I still only use 3 or 5 of them, not the full 7. I'm sure it must have more features, but I'm not aware of much else. I wanted to get out of the 9 and 35mhz before they had no resale value at all. I have the manual but I'm sure it was written in the US, so I don't know if the default switches are the standard used in the UK, and I want to keep it simple, and use the same as everyone else, no point trying to re-invent the wheel. I fly mainly slow stuff, hovering as precisely as I can, so I'm sure expo would be useful, especially as the models I fly go from trex500 through to Avro with stable setup, and it would be good to have them feel reasonably similar. I'm pretty sure when I had a lesson with my Airskipper some time ago, the instructor thought some expo on tail was required.

Well if it were me, I would use whatever the default switches are.

However I can tell you that the DX6i default D/R expo switches are the two outer switches immediately above the sticks on the front of the tx (Elevator on the left, aileron on the right) and the rudder D/R expo switch is the front one of the two switches located on the top right of the tx.

Is that what you mean ?

Yes, just trying to find out which switches are being used by the majority of heli flyers in the UK.

Dont use Dual rates for Helis, but i do use Expo to tame the centre down a bit.

I do use dual rates for planes, as i really want it a bit more sedate when landing and taking off, once in the air i switch the dual rates over to give me a lot more travel.

Good point. I'm learning rolling circles on phoenix and I find that having switch to limit the aileron travel down but keep the rudder/elevator on max helps keep a consistent roll rate.

I use a Futaba F7C TX and the switch I use for D/R and Expo was D and I did not change this so I assume that was the default option.

From memory it's the front switch on the right hand side but I expect the F10 has more switches anyway.
