This is the manual for setting up the Blade400, why it didn't come with the RTF version I don't know:

    http://www.slyster.com/heli/pnpman.pdf

Also the Blade400 Bible is the best source of information on setting up, modifying and just any tidbit of information you want to know about the B400:

    The Blade 400 Bible

Boggy (Ron) I believe is our resident expert on the Blade400 and has posted a many a setup and tweak threads on this forum

Unfortunately mate I'm down on the South coast as far as you can go. If you were within 45min of me I'd have been happy to take a look.

Ron, does that image of the tail shaft look right to you? My eye says there is a possible bend in the shaft. Might be just the angle of the photo.

Not exactly on your doorstep but if you can get to the Slough club Sunday afternoon there'll be a few of us about & there's a couple of people that will be there that know Blades pretty well.

                PM me if youre interested.

i would bin it i tried to fly mine when i was learning to hover and in the long run it will cost you more than £3.50 for a boom

i find it hard enough to fly with things right so now i give myself the best chance by ditching even slightly bent or dammaged things

What are you telling him to bin exactly? The whole heli? If so, that must be the useless comment I've ever heard.

I just had a Trex450 that had an electrical failure at 15m and fell to the ground. Should I bin that?

If you're telling him to bin the boom and get a new one then that is ok

Really appreciate the help guys, im learning the hard way. im thinking i should have bought new.. now
Anyhow, i'll attempt to replace the tail boom and report back. thing is, i just took it out in the back garden, for a quick hover attempt, messing with the trim settings got it a bit more stable, but as soon as it lifted off the ground it wanted to go nose down straight away.
I feel i need to get someone to look at this, whether that be a shop or anyone else. anyone know of anyone near east london?

                          Re: blade tail boom

I am saying I flew mine with damage and they don't fly right so you crash ( well I do cuz I'm crap) then you take out a main shaft blades and servo for example that will cost you more than £3.50

I doubt anyone would scrap a £200 Heli for the price of a boom but if I'm wrong can you let me know so I can have a look in your bin

The booms are black annodized so they are hard and not very malable so I would expect it to snap if you atempt to straighten it especially as it's been further work hardened round the bent area

My local Heli shop keeps them on the self and the boom is easy to change maybe you could pick one up over the weekend

If the tail boom replacement doesnt work have you thought about a complete strip down and rebuild. I know as a beginner this is a daunting prospect but it will massively increase your understanding of the setup and mechanics.
I know this seems like an extreme measure and I only mention this because the condition of other parts of the heli is unknown and in this way you can check if main shaft is straight etc and can be confident that the build is correct.

Ive recently done this with my second hand blade prior to flying and found a number of things. For example the belt was on the wrong way round and the tail blades had been put on back to front to compensate also the tail pitch lever was binding on both end stops etc etc.

Ive only had it in the air once as I have not had the time or head space to get out with it but im eagerly waiting for free time which will probably be in May now

There is a wealth of information out there to get you on your way. I would start with the finless bob vids (they dont cover the blade400 but the setup procedure is basically the same for all helis)

Heli Skills and Setup 101 - LOOK here first! - HeliFreak

I also recommend getting this ebook from here - I really respect this blokes guidence and have come to trust his information.

                            120 &140 Swashplate Setup & Levelling E-Book

You do have to pay for it but I think it is definately worth it (its not much) and I prefer the setup procedures to the finless bob videos.

He does also sell an ebook for setting up 400 size helis and uses a blade 400 as the basis but tbh I think boggys setup sticky covers all you need to know and can be found on this very forum and its free

                            http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/e-flit...ade-400-a.html

If you decide to take this route I will help you out as much as I can but at the moment I am totally snowed under with uni work. However posting and reading this forum is the only thing at the moment that gives me a break from the constant barage of work and keeps me sane

Trouble is I wont necessarily be able to give you help when you need it but when I have a free moment which isnt ideal.

Oh well back to more work lol
