  • trex 450 sport, nearly crashed!!

Went out to the local field this afty, to try and solve the tail kick on my heli, tightened the belt up again, and made sure the tail blades didn't catch the deck on take off. Great !! no kick at all, so just was a belt which was a little to slack.
I hovered the battery out, about 4.30mins, then put the heli down being careful not to touch the tail blades. Changed battery, now this is a flightmax 2200, 25c, the previous batt is the same but at 20c, used the 20c just to get a feel for it again.
Spooled up the heli, the rpm sounded constant but I noticed that it seemed a bit more head spead than the previous battery, but the heli was not going anywhere?! Then all of a sudden the heli shot up in the air and I don't no whether it was my overcorrecting (because I was in the process of crapping my undies but the heli's nose pitched up, and then I sort of just lost control, got the heli down from about 6ft, don't know how there wasn't any damage, but glad there wasn't
Don't know what caused this, took off after again and it seemd normal again, took off no trouble, tail kick back because I had come down hardish and the tail got the deck, just tighten belt and should be fine.
Im still on 35mhz and wondering whether this is an rf glitch? using fff9 tx, with a 146i rx. Not happened on other heli's with this rx though?
Maybe more powerful battery just caught me out and the soft start took a while to fully get to speed?

    Cheers in advance

It could be a possibility of static. I fly on 2.4, and I used to get a kick on the tail periodically. I grounded the boom to the frame, and I have not had a problem since. Maybe being on 35mhz it could be more of a chance of interference.

To be honest im thinking of getting a dx6i!! but love the sport, only really had 2 problems, the tail kick which was down to the belt tension and then this strange glitch, which im thinking may be the 35mhz rx, so no you are not getting my sport!!

Does work,as will silicone spray ,,keeps it nice and wet !!- avoid wd40 though,as long term use weakens the belt,, not sure whats in it,,,,,,,,,,

I think WD40 is a peroleum based product if this is the case it will deteriorate a lot of rubber compounds.

I guess this may also be the case with belt

Just scratch the boom of paint from under the servo mount. Put a wire under it, and put the other end which I clamped under one side of the rear frame spacer and the frame. This should be enough to ground it. Never had the problem since. A bit of non petroleum silicone spray on the belt will also help.

The tail kick was down to the loose belt, but im sure there is some static or a rf glitch which caused the pitching up without tx input. Not sure how to exactly ground it, but will give it a go.
