  • first inverted flight t500

been waiting for a clear spell all day got my bats charged meet up with johnj

at local field got the trex 500 into a hover bam she flips inverted to the left and

lands on her head due to a faulty ds520 servo on aileron seems to have stripped

in hover, oh well first crash out of the way it had to happen shame it was

    mechanical failure!!!

damage 2 stripped servos ds520 (will be changing to mg hitec)

    chipped blades nothing to bad

just run her up with no blades and main shaft seems fine

just lost faith in align electronics

Blimey! I thought you were doing really well - inverted on your second outing!

Unlucky on the servo failure. I've not heard too many good things about the smaller Align servos, hence I've fitted Hitecs on my 450 and 250.

I do have Align DS610s and a 620 on my 600 tho. I'm on my second tail 620 cos the first one failed on me.
      Martin

Most of the Aligns, fair few Spektrum bits, bunch of Align & HiTec servos, OBE, VD & Bar.

I was stood watching as this heli lifted off the floor (actually lifted out of the quagmire waterlogged gunge) it seemed perfectly normal.

At this point I was amazed to see the heli flip over to the left and end with a large splat upside down in the gunge!

No warning no odd noise the heli just commited suicide

We had a good look at the heli and I'd say he's gotta be the luckiest git alive, flipped upside down and planted in the soggy dirt with the only damage being a small chip on the rear of the blade!

Even the flybar was untouched, the biggest job apart from getting some MG Servos was to take the heli to the nearest "Heli Wash Drive Through"!

Hope you get it airborne again soon Andy, weather going to be much better as of tomorrow !!!

                ?

It broke and flipped upside down into a crash?

Ripsaw, unlucky mate That is proper rubbish trying to learn to fly and having a servo let you down. On the plus side you seem to have got away remarkably lightly

With me dilly dallying over what sort of 500 to buy, I think this is another bit of evidence against those align servos found in the ESP kits so maybe not one of them.

Heli washed and stripped ready for new servos still can't believe the tiny amount of damage guess it helps landing in a water logged field no more align servos for me on the head ,it's a great heli to learn on but if I was to buy again it would be kit only

Have you looked at these 'Hitec HS-81' I've got them in my 500 work really well even after a crash. £8.95 http://www.servoshop.co.uk/index.php?make=Hitec

just had a look at them nice price but was thinking more along the lines of

Hitec HS-5245MG ,i see you can get the ones above metal geared to so what's

                        the difference between the two?
