  • single rate gyros

when using single rate gyros like the 1 fitted in a humming bird fp electric helicopter. do you need to put some pitch into the tail whilst everything is at 90 degrees.

its in a zoom 400 i read somewhere that it requires some pitch in it.
before you all start yes i will put a 401 in it when i can afford it phoneix is first ,

i tell a lie a wood burning stove is first in my front room after a plasterer has been in,

new bits and upgrades are on the back burner for a little while whilst ill decorate.
If You Cant Dazzle' Em With Brilliance, Baffle' Em With emmmm you know the rest

Yep, with the servo horn striaght up (or down or whichever 90 deg you use), you should have between 5 and 8 degrees of pitch on the tail blades with the top blade tip leading edge pointing left (for clockwise main blade rotation). You can fine trim it after it's in the air.
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

    And a DX8 too

a rate gyro only reacts to movement it doesnt remember the position of the tail like a HH does.

the reason for the pitch offset is so that it doesnt drift when in the hover. So set the model up on the ground pick it up into the hover and see which way the tail goes.

change the length of the pushrod until it sits still.

then you need to add some revo mix so that it gives you more right "trim" as you increase the collective.
