i got the transmitter and i got phoenix my god this is difficult! - lol, any suggestions as to which heli to buy for outdoor flying, got small electric indoor models and ok with them but want something suitable to fly outdoors, it seems a lot of guys seem to like the t-rex and they sure look great! parts seem to readily available too

The E Flite blade SR should be available in a couple of weeks.
Looks like it should be a good beginners heli

The good news is that it does get easier. It just takes a little while to rewire your brain a bit

If budget allows a TREX 500 without a doubt!!!
I went down the Blade 400 route because of cash flow at the time...I now kind of think I would of been better off learning on phoenix and waiting and getting the TRex 500 like I was told to on this forum
Dont get me wrong the Blade 400 is great and it has taught me a lot in a short space of time and I think it is maybe less intimidating to start off with.
Also dont forget you will want 5-6 lipos,soldering iron -if you havent got one already- Pitch gauge and good charger the list goes on...and just as you think ok thats enough I cant spend anymore you have a crash and you are spending again
But that is all part of the flying and it is good fun
