  • Yey ... decision made and purchased!!

    Hey all

Well today decided to go get a Nitro to build after alot of time trawling through the forums etc etc etc and nipped off to Midland Helis for a chat... after some debate and discussion on my thoughts ..i.e:-
    1. wanted a 50 size
2.wanted one that I could 'bling' up in time and make individual
    3. My local club (yet to join!!) all run T Rex so knowledge is high
    4. Torque tube vs belt
    5. etc etc etc

Decided on a TRex 600 LE with a belt drive tail conversion as being a newbie am bound to tail wack it,alot!!

So will be no doubt asking loads of daft questions whilst grinning like a cat during the build

Funny how the heli bug bites!!

    Graham.
All the gear , no idea and no bloody time!!

Nice choice! However, stick with the torque tube and replace the tail fin for a 700 one. I broke some gears with my TT a while ago but since fitting the larger fin, I've not broken one.

The 600LE is a great choice. I agree with Mart61 -you might as well stick with the torque tube and see how it goes. If it does prove troublesome then you can go for a belt drive but if you don't find yourself stripping torque tube gears, you'll have saved a good few quid on the conversion.

sorry to disagree martin but crofty being a raw novice and with the parts in his bag, he would be better of putting on the belt d9rive ,there is a lot said about tube v belt but to be honest so long as you have them set up correctly it will be a long time before any difference would be noted
in fact the only difference would be the saving in tube gears

as for the heli crofty, in my opinion a great choice (although not sure how much more bling you can put on an le)the parts are readily available at a good price, and apart from what the align bashers say they fly well (they arnt the most popular heli out there for nothing)

Won't argue - just stating my personal findings...

If you wanna do the conversion click here and scroll down to post no. 4 to find out what ya need. It'll cost you about £27 plus the cost of a few nuts and bolts. This is for the plastic tail case. If you want the metal tail case then it'll cost about £33 more (£60 in all).

cheers guys for the feedback .. I know belt vs torque is a non resolved discussion but I think I'm going to go with the conversion to begin with , at the very least it will improve my build knowledge of the 2 set ups, oh and will get a 700 tail too just to be safe

Ive gone for the Align (OS) 55H engine with an energy 57 muffler

Totally agree. I have spent 10 months or so getting to "KNOW" my 600NP, and reckon that as a relative newbie, you'd be better off with the belt drive.
The 700 fin is a "MUST" to protect the tail.
