oh that happens frequently with those really important decisions where the wrong choice will haunt you for the rest of your life...
Have you already made up your mind, Futaba or Spektrum?

Have a real good think about what you have written here.

Align starter, "A lot" are pleased with them.

Sullivan Dynatron, "Everyone" is pleased with them.

              There is a difference.

If you're going to get the ALIGN one, pay the £100 and get the one with the battery already in it. You'll find it's very difficult to get one to fit with any room to breathe

                  The other consideration is cost.

Look at the cost of a new Dynatron, wand and decent 4/5 cell lipo to power it

The Align can be had complete for a lot lot less and will do a hell of a lot of starts on a reasonable 3S pack between charges

No need for a wheelbarrow to carry it to the field either!

I have both, always use the Align starter, but keep the Dynatron for back up...you just know at some point the Align starter going to come up short and it will be back to good ole faithfull....ohh and the Dynatron don't give you vibration white finger!!!!

Speaking from a bad experience with the
align starter I would say buy the sully
align is made of cheesium metal.

I own an Align and since I got it has been very regularly borrowed by owners of traditional starters (not sure that any are Sullivans) and it has managed to start all types of 50's and is regularly used to start OS 90's - not mine (don't know how it would fair with a YS91, it would seem from the posts above its not up to the job).

General durability seems fine got mine pretty much as soon as they were released and it is still going strong.

The battery on the little fella lasts for ages though as previously mentioned it is a snug fit so prob best to stick with an Align battery unless you have the option to try out other 3 cell packs for size.

My only two complaints are -

                          1) the starter wand is starting to round at the end - I am not suprised given the number of helis it has started.

                          2) i can never find it when I need it as someone else is always borrowing it to start their heli - what better recommendation can there be than that?

Futaba is my choice every time, its a pity they don't do starters

now if carlsburg made starters........ they would just re-brand the sullivan !!!

                              no competition really.
