  • CX2...to..Blade 400..(Fook Me)

I have had a CX2 since Dec09..loved it! done it to death!......hobby then got a grip...............phoenix and DX6i and loads of practice! bought a blade 400.
What a monster! (not even taken off the ground and it frightened the life out of me!) I have got no intentions of flying this beast til warmer weather.
Pretty much clueless at the mo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Advice greatly appreciated

You do get used to it- I am 3 weeks into my Innovator and it is gradually getting less scary.

I found this useful for learning on my own.

        Link works now

it gradually desensitizes you and all of a sudden you are off the ground and not bricking it

LOL just what I was going to post. When you hear the engine start to spin up and the 1.2Meters of rotor start to spin the panic really sets in. LOL

I'm a CX2 to T-rex 500 kinda guy and I can empathise with you on that point.

CX2 for about 9 months then on to a Blade 400. You're doing almost exactly what I did.
The guy in the model shop said it should be a good starting point for a 400 "because the controls are the same" What he failed to mention is that the 400 is about a hundred times twitchier & much trickier to fly. Still, I'm getting there.

Make up some large training skids cable tie to lading gear, get the heli light on the skids and get used to the cyclic responses, keep the heli skidding on the floor for a hole lipo's charge. Once your confidence is up a bit, try getting the heli a few inches above the floor with the training skids on.

Add your expo to the dx6i too.

Keep on keeping on and don't worry when you crash, crashing is part of learning.

                        Happy flying,

                        Tony
