  • Need some advice about RX and...

Hi guys, as i am a helicopter pilot always wanted to get into R/C helis.
Bought a blade CX2 last year and the Phoenix Sim.
Doing well with the CX2, but don´t like Sim's that much.
I bought a T-rex 450SE V2 last year too but just now got time to try it.
As it was a 2nd hand one a had to do a few things but got stuck with the RX. Please help me!!!
I have a Futaba T6EX and R606FS RX. As i don't have a manual(also looked up on the web without success) for a diagram i don't know which side and where plug the servos. The T-rex has Hitec servos. I was wondering which side should i plug the black and yellow wires??? And which servo on which number??? also what's the "B" on the RX for?
It also has and ESC, should i plug it on the RX?
It has a GY401 gyro, where can i get some advice on how to set it up?
I don't want to fly 3D, just get the handle of it then get a nice fuselage for it.
I just want to fly as closer as the real thing as possible. What the set up should i look for it?
I would love to go to a club for all this help, but i'm flying in South America now then couldn't find a club round here.
just one more questions. Heard about Helicommand on the web, is it any good ?
Thanks guys for your time, any thing else you think could help is welcome.
Start thinking smaller it is harder to control - just like the R22.
    THANKS ALL

looks like it's time for some reading. You'll find it all on the web. Plan a couple of "working days" for studying.

The signal wire (the outer one that is not brown or black, but orange or white) traditionally goes towards the circuit board side of the receiver. If you plug it in the wrong way, nothing bad will happen, but the servo does nothing.

The "B" connector is for "battery", means there is no servo signal, just power. The ESC goes to channel 3, but please don't reverse the polarity there.

Forget about the CX2. It's a coax, isn't it? It's not a heli. Get used to the sim, pick a T-Rex 700, Synergy N9, Vibe 90 etc and learn to fly it. It's very realistic, if you have problems with the sim, you're wasting time (and money) with a real heli.

Forget about fuselage and helicommand. And you'll find all the manuals on the web. Google is your friend.

If you can find someone who can check, test-fly and trim your heli once, it would be very valuable. But don't take that as an excuse to not do your "homework".

Helicommand is brilliant - but frequently put down by non users, or those that beacuse they learned the hard way, think everyone should - and crash a lot.

The suggestion to try an Hirobo Quark is a good one, and is the Thunder Tiger Innovator a great learners forst CP helicopter.

You need to read and learn, and manuals should all be available on the internet. Depending on how your 450 is set up - expect to crash it quickly as you are a learner.

Why don't you like the sim - please explain.

I dont like using the Sim either. I tend to go on it with good intentions of actually practising but after 10 minutes I get bored and turn it off again, much prefer to get actual stick time tbh!

Hi Edmund, the SIM just don´t feel it like the real thing. Just like Dez said, after 10 minutes i get bored. That´s why i was asking about the helicommand. If it will avoid some "begginers" crash why not use it?!
I just want to know if once i use it i will be able to fly without it later.
Will have a go on Phoenix with this helis that GravityKills mentioned.
              Thanks guys.

                >> after 10 minutes i get bored.
there's a simple solution: Every crash, down on the floor soldier and 10 pushups
It's not much, but after a dozen crashes you'll start to feel it.
You don't want to crash in real life. So why should you tolerate your own crashing in the sim?
Many people say "sim is boring", but I suspect they haven't found out yet how to use it properly. It can be very hard work, but then suddenly you realize you're making progress, and it's worth the effort.
Hover at any angle and altitude, and in place (within about one rotor diameter, not all over the sky). That should keep you busy for weeks or months, and it's 100 % useful for real flying. If you happen to meet me in multiplayer (G.K.) I'll be happy to show you what you should practise.

I understand what you mean by getting bored on the sim.... but maybe your settings are too easy, and you do need to persevere. The sim is not exactly like the real thing, and is psychologically much easier, but the sim can be used to great effect to practice stick moves, cause & effect, recovery from unusual attitudes and orientation and so just do it 10 mins at a time. You will find that as you progress and tweak, that your sessions may get longer...

But a bunch of 10 minute sessions will add up to improvements.

Helicommand is not a drug, it is a tool, and yes you will be able to 'get off' it. Without it my G5 would have been totaled many times. You can vary it's 'stabalising strenght' and gradually reduce it as you learn. You can switch it off and only switch it on 'to save the day'. I don't have Helicommand on all my machines, only the G5, and I may well fit to the TREX 500, as you can fly without stabalisation, and switch it in to save a 'situation'.
