  • Which Heli - Slight Beginner

    Hi,
I currently learning to fly rc helis.

I have a raptor 30 v2 and still in hovering stage and can do this pretty good.

Im looking for a 450 size heli to practice on the park.
These are my options im looking at so far.

    1) Belt CP

    2) Twister 3d storm - im on the verge of buying this as the parts are dirt cheap and can get one complete with tx gyro everything brand new for £140

Any more to look at in this price range?

Is there any advantages over one or the other but the storm 3d definetly looks the one.
    Many Thanks,
    Jonny

I think the twister storm and the belt is a 400 size heli? I wouldn't bother with either and go for a 2nd hand trex 450 of some sort

Can't comment on number 2 but don't go for number 1 as I had one and a few people I knew did too. Waste of time

Twister 3D is almost identical to the Blade400, which is a good 'cheap' heli, the servo's will strip fairly easily, but as you say parts are cheap, and its a great basher for flying in a park etc - the radio it comes with is not great, but presumably you already have a computer radio for your raptor, so could easily use that for both.

I'd look at the Twister 3D or the Trex 450 sport super combo if you want to spend a bit more and have something with a bit more longevity - but at the price of the twister its hard to beat.

I had a Blade 400 which flew really well for hovering, circuits and loops, when I started doing forward flips the elevator servo stripped in flight, so I upgraded to HS65 servo's, other than that I flew it stock and it was fine. I'd suggest not buying any upgrade parts (carbon blades, metal head etc), as you can end up pouring money into it, and its no longer a cheap heli then.

          Jonny,

I think Nigel has a Twister 3d that he flies, the plus on getting one of these is that he should be able to help you with any issues you may come across.

My vote goes for a Blade 400 though! But mine is not exactly stock.

If I was you I'd save my pennies and buy a Trex 450 sport. Having not had experience with the belt cp or twister i'm not sure what your budget is but for the money the trex is probably the best 450 size heli out there.

Good build quality, fly's great, spares widely available and plenty of scope for progression from sport through to 3d flying. Might cost a bit more than the heli's your looking at but I'd say in the long run you would be saving yourself money.
