  • Twisting my melon man

    Hello folks.
I'm a total noob (wife tells me its Knob not noob) and needs a little advice about an issue with the twister storm. I,m still trying to get the thing set up right and I,m nearly there but the nose is still drifting left (tail right). I've got almost 3/4 full right trim but its not making any difference and to hover I've got to keep rudder almost all the way right to stop it. I know its prob really simple fix but I just cant see it.

    Thanks.

Hi thanks for reply Steve, Its just the stock one that came with it. I took the thing down to a club today but my god I came away more confused than ever. 4-5 people tried to help me which was great but they all seemed to offer totally different advise on setting the thing up. It seems to be a little better but I'm having to fly it on heading hold or I just cant keep the tail still. I'll keep ploding till I get it right.

Take a look at which way the tail push rod moves when you add the trim that you need, then reset trim to centre and either shorten or lengthen the rod until you get a nice steady tail in rate mode. Job done!
You should avoid using any trim or sub trim on the rudder servo.

sounds like you need to set your neutral point in rate mode.
with the trim centred, lengthen or shorten the tail control rod in rate mode until it holds still then fly in heading hold from there-on

Are there any marks on the tail end of the trim rod that need to line up when you adjust the rod? I discovered on my Innovator that there were 2 marks to line up on the tail push rod linkage and also to centre the servo- this seems to give the correct neutral set up. Stabbing in the dark really as I know nothing about your heli, but worth a careful look perhaps. If not you need to set up the tail rotor so that it has about 6 degrees of pitch at it's neutral setting- this should give you a point to work from. I may be wrong, but that is the logic I worked out with some help

              Cheers
