  • Problem with my Walkera 4#3B

    Hello all,

My little walkera arrived yesterday and it's been really good fun. However the rear blades seem to have stopped working and I don't know why. You can see in the video that the little cogs are spinning so the motor is working but the actual blades just don't move. Can anyone give me any ideas as to what the problem is and how to fix it.

    Hi Adam

It looks like your tail blade alignment pins are not connecting. This has happened to mine a few times.

On the 4#3 tail blade there are two tiny protruding pins (inline with the shaft) that have to line up with holes in the driven pinion (larger white tail gear).

Hold the pinion in one hand and the tail blade in the other, rotate them in opposite directions while pushing them together gently, you should feel the pins slip into place. Then push the little rubber retainer on the tail blade shaft hard up against the outside of the tail blade, that should stop it coming off again. (For a while)

Yup that worked for a little while, and I know understand what the problem was. However I seem to have a new one.

Now it's like the motor doesn't have enough power to push the blades round, or the smaller gear doesn't make enough friction on the motor shaft (so the motor just spins inside the small gear not making the small gear move at all). But take the motor out and it will spin.

      Any ideas?

You may have pushed the tail shaft and pinion a little too hard against the stop, therefore causing friction and resisting the power of the tail motor.

Try spinning the tail blades with the motor and driving pinion out of the way, if they do not spin freely then back the driven pinion and tail blade a little along the shaft. There is a sweet spot where the tail spins freely but will still keep the pins engaged in the pinion.

If they still dont spin freely pull the tailblade and driven pinion off of the shaft, (don't lose the little rubber O ring) remove the shaft and check for any hairs or dust that may have become stuck between the parts. Reassemble and check again.

Good luck with your micro heli surgery.

Right fixed that problem, it wasn't spinning because I'd pushed the tail blade into the gear to hard. Losened that off an how I'm getting this problem. The helicopter is just spinning around and around, no amount of input from me makes any differnce.

          Thanks for being so patient.

It's probably still a slipping cog, but another thought. If you disconnected the motor wires, did you reconnect them the right way?

I didn't disconnectedthe motor, so it's not that. I'll have another play around with the cogs.

              EDIT:

After playing around a little more its back working again. Thanks a lot to everyone, no doubt I'll be back in under 24 hours with a new problem. Just gotta learn to fly it now.

Check your transmitter trims are centred before switching on, these helis are very prone to spinning if the rudder trim is off centre when switching on and plugging in the battery.

                Best of luck.

Edit: see you have it fixed now, well done, you'll get used to fixing it soon if my experience was anything to go by.
