  • Futaba ff8 help

    Hi everyone,

im coming back into the hobby with a couple of 450 sized helis and ff8 tx

Im having some probs setting the tx up with a hh gyro. In the past i have had the ff9 but the 8 seems slighty different in setting up.

My problem is i cant get a cheap esky hh gyro in that mode, only rate mode. Ive set my gyro switch on the tx to switch F and plugged the gain mode cable into channel 5 as instructed at the start of the ff8 manual, but still no hh mode on either switch postion. (in the heli section of the ff8 manual it states ch7 is gyro gain/mode..so which is correct?). i dont have 8 channel rx to hand atm to text out using ch7 for gain/mode control.

also im not sure about the atv value on the gyro channel, its currently set at 100% in either direction but i can only change the value on one side. No swtich on the tx will move to the other atv value side.

I picked the tx up 2nd hand so is it faulty or am i missing something?

Hope someone can help me out.

the gain is CH5 if its any thing like the ff7 hold down mode and look for a gyro menu go into this and set gyyro to on the next one down is or should be the switch set this to F the next one down is mode set this to GY then the next one is the % if you turn the dile the N will change to a A <--- this is heading hold mode the N is normal
    hope this helps
i get a vid for you its not the ff8 but its the ff7 in the vid if i remember

    http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=...gyro_setup.wmv
above is a vid for setting a 401gyro but the TX is a ff7 and i dont beleav there is a great differance in the ff8

I used to have one of those, and they were a bit weird with the gyro menu.

Its best to setup gyros on the FF8 (I assume its the 8UPS) by setting the ranges on the gyro menus to their maximum in either direction, 100/0 IIRC, 100 being full one way 0 being full the other and 50 being in the centre, so one switch position should be 100, the other 0, and select the switch letter, Switch E IIRC, and uninhibit it.

Then set the channel ATV's to adjust the gain.

If you are not getting any responce from the switch, you probably have both positions in the gyro menu at 100/100, the radio would ignore the switch as its software would see no difference between either condition, change one to 0.

If the switch postitions are the wrong way round then use the channel reverse on that channel (#5)

      Hope that helps.

Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
