  • Good Coventry Heli Club?

    Hi,

Looking for a good local club near to the West of Coventry ideally. Looking to fly a Blade 400 on mode 2. I have seen the BMFA website, but looking for recommendations on individual clubs really. Indoor flying would be a bonus too. Any advice gratefully received!

    Thanks

There is an indoor event monthly run at the Connexion in Ryton on Dunsmore. It is organised by Midland Helicopters and dates are published on their site at Monthly Electric Micro Helicopter Fly in from Midland Helicopters UK

As for a heli club in Coventry, I am not aware of one. I can highly recommend the Midland Helicopter Club who fly near Twycross and the club has a number of members who live in the Coventry area. Of course, it won't suprise you that I recommend them as it is where I fly and I am the club Chairman Our website is www.midlandhelicopterclub.org.uk and you are welcome to PM me if you require any additional information or to visit the club to see for yourself. We are very well known on here and many of the RCHA members enjoy coming to our annual fly-in, hopefully they will agree with me that it is a great place to fly.

    Cheers
    Darren

Thanks for the reply Darren. Would be good to visit the club. Unfortunately I think that a 50 mile round trip might be a bit much every time I want to fly, but that's not your problem its mine! Of course if I can't find a nearby club that I like then I will have to start looking further a field.

Will have to pop down to the indoor meet which is very close to me and be a spectator initially!

Hi Silverwings, I think those in Cov who come do so because there is nothing there and we have such good facilities, atmosphere and a great group with varied knowledge base........why not come take a look before writing it off as too far, it's only 10 mins past Nuneaton after all?

            Hi silverwings007

I joined midland heli club last March and must say its a great club with all types of flying from scale to aggressive 3D. It is also a 54 mile round trip for me but well worth the 30 minutes drive to get there. Take the time to visit the field I'm sure you will love it.

Don't worry about your flying ability it does not matter if your a top 3D pilot or a hover hopper no body cares...

            Cheers

When I return to the UK (about 18 months!) I will beg to be allowed to join if that's ok. It's not so bad for me as my "home" office is on the MIRA site therefore sneaking off after work wouldn't be out of the question.
