The Different "Pitch" variations.

I know there about 3 or possibly 4 different types of "pitch" helicopters out there I think.
Can someone clear up, or point to some reading, that clarify's what different pitches are available on Helicopters - and explanations on how they work for each 'pitch'.

FP - Fixed Pitch.
CP - Cyclic Pitch (?)

There are two different types of "pitch" helicopters.

Fixed Pitch - Uses blades designed with X amount of pitch on them and a rotor head with no movement on the main blade holders. The helicopter is flown using power to increase/decrease height.

Variable pitch (Collective Pitch) - Uses symmetrical (or semi-symmetrical) blades on a rotor head designed to adjust the pitch via the blade grips.

Symmetrical blades have the same profile on top and bottom of the blade (as used for 3D flight). Semi-symmetrical blades do not (usually are flat bottomed).

Cyclic pitch is a different thing - this refers to the amount of pitch seen on the paddles of the helicopter.

Theres only the two so I think you've got it. Cyclic pitch is the pitch applied to the swash that tilts the disk and hence gives the heli it's pitch attitude or roll. Collective pitch is the amount of attack applied to the blades that give you lift whether positive or negative. Fixed pitch is normally found on cheaper helis that rely on the headspeed to create lift.
