  • To charge or not to charge.......

All the advice I've seen so far regarding Lipo batteries and their storage seems to say don't store at full charge. How do you get over the problem of charging up and then for some reason find you are unable to get out and use them. For how long can you safely keep the fully charged Lipo's before you able to use it/them??? Perhaps I'm over cautious - but would appreciate your advice

If you have a decent balancing charger your can then discharge the battery. Best to charge the battery a few hours before flying?

Wake up in the morning (sounds like a song) and check the weather, if good then charge the batteries.

From what I have been told your lipos should be fine being stored fully charged, as long as they are kept indoors and not allowed to get cold for any length of time.

one of the best things you can get is a fire proof lipo bag and then put them in a sweet tin. if they are not going to used for quite some time ike a few months put then in the bag and the tin and store out side or in a shed (this is what i do) this can harm them but best to have peace of mind knowing they are out side ,always disconect the battery ,as to having a fully chared battery this is not over important as it will discharge its self over time ,never over dischage a battery as this can harm the battery.its always good to get a balencer this can help to prolong the life

Thanks Darryl and Graham for the info. I have the standard balancing charger that came with the B400. Is there some way of discharging a battery other than in the heli ??

Thanks Graham - I guess I should have looked at that thread first.... however its nice to know I'm not the only one with this type of question. Its worse than 'work' for all its Health & Safety issues!!! Not to sure about the airing cupboard though....they would cook in ours! Mike.

No m8 you did the right thing by asking. That was a thread from a few weeks back so it would have been difficult to find without the link
