Do you think that any of the rest of use leart with out asking questions?? I was 45 when I got my 1st heli, if you wont some thing that will fly for more than 8 mins and are prpeared to spend a bit of cash then get a Raptor 30 run it on 10% fuel with a head speed of around 1500 rpm and I promiss you that you will need to land LONG BEFORE the fuel runs out!

        Hi S-o-M, me again

No need for the men in white coats quite yet. They are three good choices. Any of these will fly well in a large room, which means you can practice even in bad weather.
No experience of the Dauphin, but E-sky stuff is generally good value.
May I add another choice, similar to the others.

Lowest prices for TWISTER AGGRESSOR2.4 RTF RC/LIPO/CHRGR (UK) : Brentford Radio Control Centre

Nothing to recommend it above the others, but it is so darned pretty!!!

Note also there is now a CX3.

        E-Flite Blade CX3 MD 520N Helicopter

Very similar to CX2, but in a scale body.

First idea may be a trip to your local model shop, if you have one. See which they stock, and more important, carry spares for. Can be frustrating waiting for bits after a prang.

Second is budget. If you are on a tight budget, Lama v4 might be the one to go far. Be aware this is an E-Sky heli. You will see others on the market called Lama, but they are not E-Sky, and not to be recommended.
If money is not high on the list either of the others can be got for around £100-120.

Good luck with whichever you choose.

        Jeff

Anyway when I first asked for help I did have the urge to go out and buy a full blown jobbie with all the bells and whistles, but after much reading about CRASHING, I have decided to wait until firsly I can spell colectiff pich properly and that I also know what it means.

After a very quick look on the net for something I like the look of, I have found three that interest me. (oh how many times have I bought a car that looked great only to find............) and here they are:

          1. Esky Dauphin
          2. Lama V4
          3. CX2

Well there you are then, thats got you all rolling around the floor laughing.

If anyone can stop themselves from having hysterics and from thumbing through yellow pages in an attempt to find me a mental home to book into, are these things any good?

I must keep taking the pills!

They are all good in their own way, I started with the Dauphin, before I discovered this forum.

The down-side to ALL of those 3 is they are too big for a beginner to fly in an average size room. The mCX and mSR are so much smaller, and therefore much easier to fly in limited space.

I would strongly suggest you get an mCX to start with. If you find you are enjoying that, as others have said, look at an mSR and a simulator. If you are STILL keen, you can start looking for a CP heli, and that's a whole different ball game.

I started with an mCX and then a couple of larger coaxes and an mSR before moving on to a 450 size cp heli.
Thing is I still love the little mCX its a really good little heli, and its just great fun for those small indoor spaces.
Somebody wanted to buy it from me the other day. You guessed it, I said, NO WAY, Not my little baby Lol

So yes S.O.M. You cant do better than a quick fit fitter Sorry I mean mCX
