    first a hello to say im new to the forum and rc heli's im in the lincolnshire area lots of flat land

    ok so this morning i decided to get the buzz fly be out for a little flight as ive only had it for a couple of days i went through my usual set up routine and connected the battery as im putting it in the holder it just went up in smoke and melted the connector and terminals i also believe the battery might be knackered too i have no idea whats caused this maybe i caught something as i was putting the lipo in the holder? anyway i have order a new wire etc (its the one that splits from 2 into a one) i hope it hasnt damaged anything else.

    i hope ive posted in the right section i have also searched the forum to see if it has happened to anyone else.

    Hello and welcome to the forum.

    From what you describe, it sounds like you connected the battery leads in reverse. That will kill the battery and most likely the ESC as well. You might be best to have it looked at by someone experienced.

    Can you take it back to the shop or go to an RC flying club and ask them to take a look ?

      hi its pretty impossible to connect it the 'wrong way' as it doesnt fit correctly so really you can only connect it one way.

        In that case, it could be an electrical short in another place. Do you have the means to check the battery voltage under load ? That would tell you whether it's been shorted or not.

          i just double checked and its not possible to connect it the wrong way i just wonder when i was securing the battery i caught it on something causing it to short? shall i take that battery as no good? or when i get it fixed up test it?

          any help appreciated


          no i dont have a meter or anything something could of been caught somewhere else or been in contact. wel my new bits come tommrow so i will replace them and try again and see if the same thing happens.

          im hoping i just got unlucky
