  • GY401 help please.

    Hi all,
I took delivery of my 401 but I don't have a clue I have the 9254 installed etc.

Ok, I get this bit from Raptech for my radio (Futaba 7C)

For this set-up we will make switch 'B' to control the gyro mode. To do this you need to get in the menu system by holding the 'Mode' button down for one second. This gets you in the basic menu then press 'Mode' once to get to the advanced menu. Use the jog wheel to get to the 'GYRO' function. Use the down button (by the jog wheel) to get to the second page of gyro options. At the very top set 'GYRO' to 'ON'. Next set 'SW' to 'B' and set the 'MODE' to 'GY'.
Use the up button to get back to the first page and set 'UP' to 'A90'. Set 'DN' to 'N90'.
I'm fine up untill this bit:
set 'UP' to 'A90'. Set 'DN' to 'N90'
My radio just shows this as UP >90% (I changed these to 90)
    DN >90%

Is that ok because I have no "A90" and "N90" but that's his advice.

Also, when I switched it on it's buzzing continuously, is that ok?

I really wish these things were easier to set up

    Cheers for any help guys!!

    *EDIT*
BTW, the whole setup page is herehttp://www.raptortechnique.com/gy401-futaba7c.htm

Ok, I sussed out if you keep turning the 'wheel' you will get "A90" ok

    Those figures sound right guys?

    *EDIT*
Well, it's working...somehow I got it working but the buzzin just wont stop, is that because it's new?
I guess I better check there is no binding going on although I don't think there is.

    Still buzzing like crazy though...

Make sure there is no binding at the tail and gyro gain set to around 70% it should hover in normal rate mode. Once it hovers fine in normal rate flick the 'B' Switch to set the centre for H.H (Avcs mode).

It should then hover rock solid and not turn in the hover.

        Thanks Disc,

It's weird, there is no binding but it's only buzzing when I put the servo arm on, in fact I took the link off the ball link and it pretty much stopped buzzing but all I had to do was touch the servo arm (ball link) with the rudder push rod link and it started buzzing again, didn't even connect it

Anyone ever come across this before?

Digital servos tend to buzz all the time...

Don't worry about the buzzing - it'll be fine once it's in the air and working. It's just hoverring around the neutral point, and being a digital servo connected to a gyro, it's constantly hunting for a steady-state position. Once it's flying, and moving all the time, it'll settle down.

Thanks all, ah the worries of the noob in this hobby

Sad really but I guess I'll get there in the end.

If you disconnect the control rod from the servo does the rod move freely backwards and forwards?

As any resistance will make it buzz.

Yea, no trouble with the rod (thankfully)

I have been googling and apparently this is quite common.

It's to do with the servo being new plus the speed of the thing and it being on a table it's always looking to right itself..or something like that
