  • Assistance with Robbe Moskito XXL (I think)

I have recently puchased a RC helicopter Robbe Moskito XXL and need some assistance with the set up. I have has a small electric helicopter before which I became quite good at flying but Ive never even seen a nitro one before.

I have found the manual online for the Robbe Moskito XXL but there are a few thing that aren't covered. I have tried a bench test on the engine last night however I couldn't start it. I'm not even sure I performed the bench test correctly. Can anyone tell me the correct procedure to do a bench as I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly.

Also there is a "ICG400 Giro Heading Lock System", on the side of the copter. how do I attach this to the receiver and servos and which servos does it need to be attached to?

My last helicopter was 4 channel, This one is apparently 6, by testing I have found that servos 5 & 6 to be assigned to the switched on the top corners of the control, is this normal. If so what are they for?

Sorry theres lots of questions here, I'm quite the beginner and would rather not join a club yet until I know a bit more about things Your help is very much appreciated.

    Cheers

    Mike

Okay while you may not want to join a Club at this point I'd recomend it.

channel 6 is pitch (linked to throttle)

channel 5 is gyro normally mode Heading hold or Normal mode.

What Transmitter are you using? Your servos are at the moment setup wrong.

Goto a Club find someone that wil help you from here on in its the best way otherwise you could have problems and could do damage to the machine or yourself.

while we can help you here and advise you, You will learn more and understand what they/we explain if they are stood with you and the helicopter.

Best Advice is join a club get BMFA insurance

Right, I think I'll go down to the Sheffield Heli Club next weekend and join. TBH I thought the £5 million insurance and joining fee would be high, but its very reasonable.

I think my helicopter may be missing a few parts such as the thing that attatches to the "Turney bit" on the engine to connect to the cog and some servo rod things. Will they be able to tell me what I need to get it flying?

I would like to see if my engine works before then. I have bought all the stuff I need. Can you tell me if I leave the Glow Plug heater connected to it when I start it? Also, which way should the engine be turned to start clockwise or anticlockwise (what you are looking head on).

Cheers for all of your help.

          Ditto

Join a club before you go any further. Trying to start an IC heli engine without knowing what you're doing can be very very dangerous.

          Where are you?

Maybe you could link up with someone from this site.

I wouldn't try and start it... I have had the throttle servo set the wrong way on me before and you better be ready for it because it will BITE really bad if its wrong. I always get a 2nd person with me if I am unsure and I did when my raptor 60 started up full open! It should of been reversed and some how got missed. Lucky 2 of us can hold it and I flip the throttle upwards dam quick I can tell you!

Please don't try and start it!

Guys at the Club will help you and then come here and let us know how you get on etc.
