  • Hi, Newbie with a Blade MSR!

First post in what appears to be a great forum.
After getting a cheap 3 ch IR heli as a 'silly' gift at Christmas, I decided to see what was around which was better and more controllable. I didn't realise what I had been missing out on!! After reading numerous posts on various micro helicopters, I decided to bite the bullet and get an E Flite Blade MSR. Having fun getting it to fly with plenty of crashes, but so far managed around 20-30 second of fairly controlled flight.
No doubt I will be asking for help and guidence, but at the moment it's just to say hi!

Hi Jase, and welcome to the forum.

The mSR is a great little heli and I'm sure you'll get to grips with it after some more practice.
Im assuming you got the rtf version with the stock transmitter and just in case you missed this, if you press down on the right hand stick the tx goes into low control rate which tames the heli down a bit for your first few flights.

Thanks for the replies! Yup, got the RTF model and found the 'press left stick' taming option. Flights around 1 min after six batteries!!! Still nothing to repair heli or household!!

Pressing the left stick puts tx into bind mode, so be careful not to press that one unless you mean it

Yeah, I can see how addictive and potentially costly this 'hobby' can get, but it's relatively cheap compared to my previous hobby of Motocross!! I'm still involved with Motocross running a part time graphics business, but needed something else to do now the bike has gone!

This is a great site, very friendly and helpful people. Be warned though, you will get addicted, I have an MSR, Buzz fly BE and want to get a Blade 400 in the near future, great little hobby!

Hi there Jase - they are brilliant! I think I'm you can learn quite a bit with it.

Got a 500 ESP to build but just cant get round to it - too busy annoying the wife with my mSR zipping around (well, as zippy as a learner can get) and putting my cat in a trance - he desperately wants to kill it. Enjoy - it's my second crack at Heli's and the mSR has made it a whole lot more fun.

The mSR is a terrific little heli but a bit dangerous - because it can lead to "heli addiction". I've been diagnosed as having this condition, and am currently undergoing treatment which consists of "Phoenix simulator time" and "Building a TREX 450 Sport".

another newbie with an msr as first heli. 3 weeks in and no probs keeping it in the air. gets a bit trickier when you start to get a bit more adventurous though. you will begin to break it with consistent crashing. the blade grips will give up. the skids may break and if the tail rotor begins to make a funny noise you have probably bent the rotor. more info on these issues if you wish. let me no of any probs you have that i have not experienced. cheers.

I've had great fun learning to fly the MSR. Got through a couple of sets of blade grips and broke the landing gear, which I repaired and screwed back to the body with the help of some thin plastic sheet, glue and some tiny self tappers (taken from one of the kids toy cars!!)
Just got a Std Buzzflyer (with upgrades) and a Buzzflyer BE with batteries, chargers, TX and a few spares for £100 the lot. Will let you know how I get on with these and may end up selling the MSR
