  • Newbie help - first heli

    Hi,

I am looking into getting a micro 4ch helicopter to use indoors, but unsure what to get. I have read through a few posts and think my options are a blade msr or a buzz fly.

Which is better for a novice. Also do i buy them with the radio gear or get a seperate one?

    any advice would be helpful

Of the two you suggested, the mSR is the better for a beginner.

However, if you are totally "green", why not try an mCX?

    Martin

Most of the Aligns, fair few Spektrum bits, bunch of Align & HiTec servos, OBE, VD & Bar.

I've heard the msr is a good heli, I have an mCX myself which is very stable. I think you can get them both with transmtter supplied, so all you need to do is charge the battery and fly.
I think the buzzfly is a bit much for a learner, from videos I have seen they look quite a handful
      Hope this helps

Well we had 3 MCX's flying in my house this christmas and they are amazing but already my son wants to move to an MSR.

On his third flight he was doing figure of eight and this is the first heli he has ever flown...so maybe the MCX is a bit un challanging??

And I think in retrospect we should of gone the MSR route and saved some money.

Another thing is unless you have a really big room I wouldnt want any bigger then the MCX for indoors!

Thank you for all your advice.

I have been looking around for the best deals for the blade MSR and found (well from another post on the forum) a website that does the bind and fly version along with a spektrum DX6i for £182.45.

Just trying to work out if spending the extra money to get the DX6i is worth it,the RTF Versions sells for about £110, so for an extra £70 am getting a DX6i.

My head is saying go for it, but can see the total cost going up and up. As also thought be good idea to get some spares, just in case i crash a few times. What are the basic spares that i should buy? and how many spare batteries is it worth getting?

It may be better to get the RTF version and see if you get hooked before getting the DX6i???

I got the MCX BNF and the DX6i because I am going top get Phoenix flight sim

I may be selling my MCX BNF rather soon for an MSR but I am glad I got the MCX first I have learnt a lot from it!

IMO just go for the bnf and dx6i if you can afford it. There is not much ppl I knew not get hooked after trying those helis!

Is the Msr easier to fly with the basic tx or a DX6i?

It would be the same tbh but the DX6i will remember your trim settings for next time!

From the vibe you are giving off I think you should get the RTF and get flying as cheap as possible Then you can move on from that if you want or you may decide that is as far as you want to go and just have a fly now and then.

                          Simple,
If you think you are likely to stay with the hobby and possibly expand your fleet with more helis and or the Phoenix simulator, then get the DX6i.
If not get a rtf heli with the basic tx.

But be warned. This is a very additive hobby.
