Are you searching eBay for Phonix? If so, you may not get any hits. Try Phoenix and see how you get on.

Knowing what I do now (not much!!), I'd go electric.

Love my Raptor but TBH all the pratting around with mixtures, fuel, starting, bearings, crud, ..................

Think I'll develop my Swifts - or go Trex 500 - and spend the next year plugging & playing rather than fueling & tuning.

I was just yanking your chain, Luke. We do a lot of that in these parts.

            Welcome aboard.

Have you any idea of how much money you want to spend?

In truth, whilst used copies of Phoenix do come up on here from time-to-time, they are often snapped up like hot cakes. Also they are often not that much cheaper than buying a new copy.

Hmmm well if you just starting out then maybe a leccy but then you will need lipos and a good charger if you go nitro then you need starting gear to support the heli such as a starter, fuel pump, glow igniter etc. Leccy helis are clean and less hasle when you first start out but lipos can cost a lot.

True, but so much less hassle. And all the charging, balancing, theory, technical bits are quite interesting too.

Lipos are getting cheaper & more reliable as well.

I reckon £500 will just about set you up with a T-rex 500. It's how I started in CP helis.

Having said that, see my post here.

for that amount of money i know you would get what you need to start with a rappy 30 v2 nitro radio etc and longer flying time than a leccy.
about 20 - 25 mins dep on engine size.
bloke in our club got 3 rappys for sale all ready to fly.
number available if you pm me.

If you want to go nitro there's probably no better starter heli. (until everyone chips in with Trex 600 etc)

Yep too true Lipos are getting cheaper, either way still need a good charger regardless if leccy or nitro as you really want your flight lipo in good health.

Thing is I agree it is interesting all the technical bits leccys are much better for learning with
