Get Mode 2. You will be far better off for help this way.
Mode 1 is for Gimmers and people who just like making things hard for themselves
Steps back and waits for backlash

Helies use mode 2, throttle on the left, most planks I know use mode 1 throttle on the right.
Meant to say plank flyers! All the best STEVE.

Mode 2 is throttle on the left which seems to be more popular for heli's, and can make some moves a bit easier.
Mode 1 is throttle on the right stick. Used to be more popular years ago, still find a lot of plank fliers using this mode. I know a few heli pilots who fly mode 1 as this is how they fly their planes.
As said, might be worth checking with someone at the club you will be joining or anyone who you can turn to for help (shop etc).
I think you'd find more mode 2 fliers with heli's.

I think that would probably be a good idea. I still fly both to help people training with planes, but all my model (both planes and heli's) are on mode 2.

Get mode 2
Forget mode 1, its a less natural control layout, plus once you learn to fly in mode 1, your stuck with it and you will just be one of the minority

Add a RC flight sim, such as Phoenix, to your shopping list (probbly in place of something else on your list). It will pay for itself in no time!
+1 on Mode 2. You'd have to have a strong reason to look at Modes 1, 3, & 4 for general heli flying thee days.Peace: Being left alone to examine the new bits you've just bought!

Forget the outdoor heli for the moment. Your much better off getting the Phoenix sim and learning on that first.
You will enjoy the CX2 or the mCX Indoors during the winter months, and then you can get yourself a single rotor outdoor heli later. Phoenix will help teach you how to fly these instead of just crashing them
Ps dont forget to get the bind and fly version to go with your DX6i. This'll save you some dosh for later.Last edited by tiddler; 13-12-2009, 05:39 PM.
