Hi guys, I'm looking for a 450 / 500 sized heli, probably a T rex but here is the rub, I've been offered a very good deal by my local model shop on a Pheonixtec flasher 400.

It's a Trex 450 clone but this guy assures me that they are made on the same production line in the same factory as the Rex, it even uses the same moulds.

So according to him it's EXACTLY the same as the Rex, my question for you guy's is, is it ???

I doubt it, Im sure someone more qualified than me who has perhaps had both the original and the clone will be along to comment shortly.

welcome to the forum" I think most on here would disagree, clone also have different electronic spec's.
If you want to take any advise gt for 450 sport/pro or 500esp, heli is as good as the pilot but having a good heli reduces pilot error.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

I've never seen a Flasher clone personally but I have read reports that they are decent enough so take that for what you will. How much of a good deal have you been offered? And what electronics are included as current the Align 'combo' deals definitely take some beating.

He may be offering a good deal because he cant shift it,shop around there are some fantastic deals on Align helis and i am sure in the new year we may see some sales starting.

I have worked on and flown a flasher 400 and the quality is certainly OK,i think its a very acceptable model but i personally would not buy one over an Align.

But having said that, money talks so if you can screw him down on price and have done your homework on Align prices elsewhere then maybe go for it.

IMO Clone for a beginner is not recommended coz - you'll be for ever chasing problems after problem then end up buying all the genuine parts of Align. Clone for an intermediate flyer is ok.

if it is then you ought to read this http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/main-d...odel-shop.html

my first heli was a blade 400 with a dx6i, I wish I saved a bit more and got a trex 450 as I spent a lot on upgrading the electrics and it would have been cheaper in long run to get a trex anyway. my rave has been great its virtually cost me nothing to keep airbourne once I got over a small teething problem, there is a Rave on ebay now which might be a bargain for someone http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Remember its a clone of an SEv2 and not a trex 450pro or trex450sport. The new align 450 has an improved head with some one piece links and a wider head block needing a longer (v3/pro) splindle.
Just fitting the one pice links and the v3 head block made my heli fly quite a bit nicer (but I also changed the servos too so that was some of it).

I take it you are a beginner? Do you have TX RX and other electronics or are you starting from scratch?

I suppose I am a beginner from a equipment point of view, I used to fly some 20 odd years ago (shuttle - schluter 50 - Xcell 60) and gave it all up until some brought a blade msr into the office and now I'm bloody hooked again.

So bought an msr and dx6i (lots of fun) and now looking for some thing bigger.

Must admit I'm pretty confused by whats on offer out there, thought I'd like a rex 450 until I realised how small they are (yes i know the msr is small but thats different lol)

Keep looking around the net at different options (logo, outrage 550 etc) or do I go back to nitro, at least I have a bit of old knowledge there.
