Yeah rebuilt it lastnight, just finished off some minor things tonight such as putting stabilizers back on. Sounds perfect and performed a little hop in the loungeroom before deciding enough is enough Hopefully Saturday morning will be dry and I'll be able to take it out for a quick hover. It was quite a mess, had hoped to had it rebuilt for the last indoor meet we had but there was more damage than I realised
All sorted now so alls good.

Well the good news is that it lifts off about 10cm off the ground and doesn't start spinning. Which is what it was doing before the repairs due to tail rotor head speed not being achieved.

I've reassembled it for the second time and it made the noise again so I dropped off the tail gear box assembly. Turned it in the direction it wanted to go naturally twice. Put the tail gear box assembly back on and gave the main blades a turn. It seems to turn now without being stiff and sending vibrations through the tailboom/body. However there is a whistling noise when I ran the motor, I'm wondering if it's a tracking issue but the blades and paddles look straight when viewed side on. Could it be bad bearings making this sound? I was going to take the head off and see if the noise goes away. That way I'll know if it's a tracking issue or not.
Darryl,When installing the tail belt you only need to turn it once to the right when it is installed in the tail boom.I noticed you mentioned something about 'twice' above?

Grant, it was going the right direction but had a twist along the belt so to take out the twist I had to unturn it twice otherwise one turn would result in the blades going the wrong way if I'm not mistaken.

Hope that makes sense.....it did when I was writing it but sometimes after reading things back I wonder what I was thinking

Yeah seems perfectly fine now that I've changed out the tail drive and put new bearings in the main body. It sounds like it normally does and it took off without any hitches. When I'm home at hours when there is some daylight I will take it out for a hover.
