    Hi

Once again I was advised that the carbon blades would make my helicopter more stable to fly as a learner.
Which TX would you recommend as I was told this was the best one for a learner like myself ?.

God this is such a minefield when trying to learn it is also frustrating in that I have had my helicopter for two and a half months now and not had it test flown yet as I have been trying to find some good honest advice and help with setting it up and setting the TX up which is a nightmare to do as the manual tells you how to do it but does not explain what ieach setting does.

Thanks to all for being patient and helpful.

I reckon a Futaba FF7 or similar would be better in the long run but that would be OK for now

Whoever told you carbon blades makes it more stable is talking complete and utter crap

When you are doing aerobatics etc they are almost essential, but for hovering around and doing circuits etc woods are not only cheaper but are normally more crash resistant to a point

The 6EXHP Tx is fine for learning on. It has 5 point throttle & Pitch curves and most functions.

I have used one, true it will get outgrown, but surely not yet.

Carbon tail blades don't look so naff when you've been cutting the grass with them

David if you have used a 6EXHP Tx have you got a set up for running a sceadu evo 30 on it with a futaba 401 gyro with a digital servo ?.
as I cant seem to find any set up sheet for this. there is a set up for the ff7 and ff9 in the sceadu build book but it is different than the 6exhp layout and I am confused or am I just thick ?.

No, it's a pal's really, but we have set it up for a Trex & a Raptor 30.

Have you got a manual for it?

            If not:-

            www.futaba-rc.com/manuals/index.html

and you can find it there.

The only annoying thing setting it up is that you can only go one way through the menu, so if you miss your spot you have to go all the way round again. Best copy your latest "set-up" to another model number so that if you change something & it doesn't work, you can always go back to the previous attempt

I'm afraid I don't have any set-ups logged, we just ploughed through it all and did it the hard way.

            Best of luck

whilst the 6exh is pretty naff. it does work.

at the moment you might be in the situation where you can stick it back in the packaging and exchange it for a 7c

if thats not an option stick with it for a while.

                  Sorted.

twopart's heli is now set up and ready for first flights. The damn weather stopped us from taking it up to the field to give it a whirl.

It's a nicely put together Sceadu with an Irvine 35.

Personally, I would put the nice main and tail blades to one side, and use the ones that came with the kit for learning. Similarly wth the nice painted GRP canopy and fins - I would put the bog standard ones back on for learning. It just all adds up in the wallet department when the inevitable happens. The only other thing that needs upgrading is the battery pack - 1100 mAh is not big enough. You need at least 2000 mAh sub-C size, and the standard sub-C 2400 mAh pack is ideal for a heli of this size, and, it's a nice snug fit in the proper battery compartment.

The Tx is simple, but as Ade says, it works. It didn't take much time to get my head around it, and within an hour and a half we had everything set including idle-up flight mode, throttle hold, gyro etc etc - the whole sh'bang.

Set the pitch limits to -3 to +9 with +5.5 in the middle and a linear throttle curve in normal mode, and -6 to +9 in idle-up throttle mode.

The engine will be interesting - never had experience or seen an Irvine engine except in planes where they're usually ok. I don't want to be too presumptuous, but it's probably not all that good when you've been spoilt with O.S. all your life, but I'm sure it will be just fine for learning.

All ready to go - if it hadn't been for the rain, we'd have flown it by now!

                    Hi Steve
Many Many thanks for your help today, I hope I did not take up to much of your time.
Today was a great help to me as I learnt a lot from you.
You made it very easy to understand and to take on baord what you were doing and why you were doing it.
Hopefully when the weather clears up soon if I am not away testing I will be able to get it test flown and any further tweeks done to it.

For anyone reading else reading this speak to an experienced flyer like I did today and you will found it a great help when learning.

Steve if there is anything I can do for you in return dont be afraid to ask mate.

                    Once again many many thanks.
