  • How long do these last?

    Hi All,

I got a twister medevac for christmas and after having the V2 for about 5 months its great. I can fly it around the house etc....

With 2 batteries I am letting the motors cool down between flights and I am landing every 2-4 mins to give it a chance. Assuming I don't crash it how long will it last? What do I need to look out for? and is there anything I can do to keep it sweet? ie lube.......

Sorry if this sound sad but this 36 year old has never had so much fun and I want it to last.......

    Roger.

Happy New Year to you all by the way.

keep the flights to 10mins. lipos really dont like being over discharged.

if you have a charger that tells you how much your putting back in, make sure you dont take it beyond 80% of the capacity.

These helis are pretty much maintenance free, it a bit breaks, just get a replacement part.

A bit of light machine oil (eg sewing machine) just under the top blade so it dribbles down the inner shaft. Avoid dogs and tops of trees. Get yourself spare blades top & bottom, spare inner shaft - tube of super glue for fusalage repairs. Have fun.

I discharge my battery down till it visibly slows and in over 50 cycles no probs with battery - they're cheap as chips anyway (bigger lipos different story)

In case of itching for something better take 2 Valium and a bottle of Newkie Brown (don't fly for 12 hours) or ask significant other what they think about you spending 90% of your spare time and disposable income on an obsession/hobby. That's all.

          Linton, Cambs!

          That's extremely local.

If you fancy getting into IC helis, come give us a look at the Haverhill club. Our flying site is not very accomadating for small electrics as it's very open to the elements, but we do have one member who flies a TRex 450 and a 600 on a regular basis.

          And........

I'm somewhere in the region of 36 as well!
