I know the feeling mate i'm still new to this hobby myself but have thrown myself into it as i do with most things..
although most of my time lately is spending time reading up on this forum and other site's to try and learn as much as i can about set ups etc,
your lucky you have a club to go to also, my local club is planks only so i've no-one local to help me so to speak so i'm relying heavily on the net and this forum, but i'm getting there slowly but surely, stick with it buddy it'll all be worth it once you get that first flight in...

Hi Buddy.
Yep I found it confusing at first including gyros
. Im doing better now. Thing that at first caught me out was rebuilding after a crash simple things checking you have the correct amount of pitch after you replaced damged servos.
You'll get there keep at it and if your not sure ask on here

It is for sure a steep learning curve and I echo the points made by the guys above. We are here on the forum for any advice on snags or queries you have. But don't do as I did and prat about on your own, your have made a good move in joining a club with heli chaps around and you will learn much from them.
Also, on the Helifreak forum, there are simply loads of constructive videos done by "Lord" Bob White - "Finless" - which are an absolute must to watch.
Things will go wrong, but help is never far away..............................

The finless videos are a godsend you can build a heli without an instruction manual.
If you are gonna watch any videos watch these
Heli Skills and Setup 101 - LOOK here first! - HeliFreak more than enough advice even down to thread lock.
hope im not breaking any rules with this link if so im sorry.

modern gyros arn't that hard to setup to be honest. you're just excited about your new toy coming and thinking worst case scenarios
don't worry about it , there's plenty of help to be found on the net.
and a +1 for watching the finless vids____

This hobby uses state of the art complex electronics and complicated but fascinating mechanical engineering with electro-mechanical control systems; combine that with the physics involved it flying and controlling a gyroscopic whirly-bits contraption – yes it can be confusing, and challenging, and complex, and difficult…… and that is what helps to make it so fascinating and challenging.
Fortunately it can largely be broken down to simple bits and small simple steps (an elephant is eaten one bite at a time), and it is not necessary to actually understand the complex algorithms used in gyros, merely the simple steps to configure them….
If it was easy….. most of us would not be doing it I suspect.Edmund
