  • to msr or not to msr?

Got a dilemma, not a big one but a dilemma, iv got £100 burning a hole in my pocket and its free to spend on what I like on a xmas prezzie.

Now I have a mcx which I initially liked, only about 2 months old, now im a bit bored with. Don't get me wrong I think they are great but just want a little more,.... speed!!!

So will I get bored with an msr bnf, and are they as good as cracked out to be?
Will be using the mcx specky tx, I know they are not great, but I don't have a dx6, so will this tx suffice?

    decisions decisions...........

Likewise.. I had the MCX, and got bored of it very quickly. Too stable, and really not enough of a challenge.

The MSR, is quite a step up. It is very stable in the hover, but can build up a good run of speed if you want to.. or if you're not careful Although have seen vids of it outside, I think you are really in need of a flat calm day to do it. Otherwise, I expect that a bigger indoor hall would be great fun for buzzing around.

Around my house though, it is still confined to circuits, and still have to be careful with the speed, as the walls can come very quickly. Kind of bored with mine again, and only really comes out on those really bored moments. Not really used as much as it should be.

Prefer the outdoors with an at least a 450 sized heli

You could always get a copy of Phoenix and put the rest towards a Used DX6i
That way you get to fly all sorts of helis, including the mSR, and have a decent tx that will work with your mCX and any other heli or model equipped with a Spektrum rx

It has been done apparently but but only from a great height. Never tried it myself.
But must say, on a dead calm day they a great fun to fly outside, and it swoops and banks really well

I think i may get pheonix in the near future, I have a decent tx, a futaba ff9, which I fly my mini t and raptor 30v2 on. Just wanted some fun with the msr, on rainy windy days indoors. Pheonix is a good shout I think, especially as im still very much a newbie.

                      cheers

Dont get me wrong. I have an mSR and they are great little helis But to make the most of them they really do need a bit more space than most people have in their living rooms (A gym or school hall would be ideal) otherwise you just end up flying it slowly and in a not dissimilar way to the mCX.

With Phoenix you get the best of everything plus a lot of practice, which will stand you in good stead later.

There again if you have got your heart set on an mSR, I'm sure you will enjoy that as well
