  • Washout Control Arm

My Blade400 had a crash the other day and Im in the process of reassembling and just looked at the washout base and control arms. One of the control arms feels a bit notchy/grainy on rotation would this be an indication that one or both of the bearings are gone?

Update: Just wondering if the retaining screw was overly tight.

Whilst I've not much experience in this respect, it could be a sign. On advice from a forum member, I checked my mainshaft bearings after a recent crash and they were notchy. I got replacements from RC Bearings. Cheap as chips.

      The following can cause this:

bad bearing. Remove and test. Replace if notchy.

Overtight / damaged bolt. Loosen bolt slightly so as not to introduce play.

ContaMinster bearing. With dirt/glue/ threadlock. Sometimes can be cleaned.

      Hope this helps

Asid is there anyway to test the bearing without being in the assembly?

Basically I want to lock the inner lining and rotate the outer to see how it feels. I think when I've loosened it off it might be just the inner lining spinning around the screw.

Just reassembled the Blade400 minus the tail stabilizers. Powered her up and noticed the tail inputs seemed to turn the heli opposite to what it should be so think I have the belt twisted so that the tail rotor is spinning opposite to what it should be. Will have to test rotation later this afternoon.
