  • Futaba FF7 ratchet

On the new FF7CAP is it a simple matter to change the ratchet into a smooth friction for collective.
Can't tell as its under the tree...

No...can't find a seller of smooth ratchets, what I did was take out the metal spring that makes the ratchet, bend it "round" with a pair of pliers and put it back. Works fine. basically, take out the "notch" on the ratchet. smooth it & put it back. Same bit of metal. But different shape.

Watch it though....when you replace the back of the Tx, make sure the terminals for the Tx battery (on the mother board) are not bent, they come through a very small slot in the back case & can get bent easily./

On my 9C I just took some of the power off the spring by bending it back slightly and putting a tiny dob of grease on the rachet - that made it almost entirely smooth but some people run a bit of wet & dry 400 over the rachet too to take the tops off the plastic teeth

Yeh, same thing really. Either take the teeth off the wheel, or take the notch off the ratchet. Either.

The standard notch is pants though

I saw one on the internet where the guy put some fuel tube over the spring so it still presents friction but takes away the ratchet effect..

Probably. No thought process with these manufacturers

All these work. The fuel pipe idea is worth a look at. Having said that, when I flattened out my ratchet it too worked ..free

fuel tube works I put a spot of super glue on inside tube just incase, but you still have to bend out quite far to get a nice feel.

Good thing is if you want to sell up at a later stage, you only have to cut tube and can sell to anyone!

i flatten the ratchet out then take the teeth off the cam with sandpaper. then you tweek the spring tab to give just the right amount of braking.
