          Good money after bad

I don't have hands on experience but close looks at the photos on Midland web site suggests its one of the breed of scatty 400 based helis and the rotor head looks very similar to the Walkera / DF 36 - particularly the thin inner shaft pushrod for collective. I think you'd find yourself in the the same boat(heli) as your DF60.

If you can't afford a 2nd hand complete 30 glo setup then buy yourself a Twister 47 - at least you'll have fun flying. Alternatively get a decent radio - maybe start with Tx/Rx (eg Futaba 7 or 9) and if you can a decent gyro. Stick that all in your DF60 and you may well have a flyable heli and if it's still crap at least you have a good radio to put in the next one. I guess your problems are setup of rotor head and gyro and crap radio.

i had a play with a mini pred.

its a pile of crap... Just another copy of an already crap heli (the zoom, which the walkera is based on too) the shaft drive on the tail is grub screws pinching a wire drive. no flat on the wire just relying on the pinch force of one screw which on the one i flew test flew started slipping within 30secs of flying.

also the ball links were so loose you could easily pop them off with your finger. im not talking big force here either. if it was a nitro you would be routing around your tool box for spare links.

wish people would stop releasing low quality bad flying CRAP!

              Conspiracy theory

I totally agree with Ade's sentiment about releasing crap helis'- I could be cynical and think that they are delibertaely down engineered to facilitate large volume, high-markup sales needed to refurbish the heli till the next crash.

                I agree.
Having spent countless hours struggling with a DF36 in a previous life the only small electric outfit I would touch these days would be one of the small fixed pitch contra-rotating indoor helis such as the Twister bell, medevac, venom rescue or hirobo Lama..Purely for round the house fun

Ps i had a go on a Venom rescue at my local modelshop and was impressed! Slightly larger and much sturdier that than the Twisters.

iv got a mini pred, from new it was fine, stable and fun to learn to hover, its now had 1 or 2 bumps and its begining to show.

everything is straight and true, but i just cant get it to hover satble anymore, the flybar linkages are as Ade said, loose, and the play in the whole main blade assembaly is unbaleveable.

i picked up a Trex 450 the other week (no radio gear), im just wondering wether to upgrade the pred with ally parts or just to sell it and build up the trex, but i think i already know what you lot will say

                    in a nut shell:

i have learnt alot with the Pred, but i would not advise anyone to buy one if they are seriouse about flying helis, im sur you could make a Pred into a very good little heli, but youd have to throw a lot of money at it to get it there.

I had a few bumps with my mini pred as well and cant say the same ... it still ruins fine and only thing I had to replace on it was the tail gear box as the bearings has stopped in the plastic and melted it .... but @ £5 for the part its well worth it .......... Had numerous flights with mine and apart from a few niggly little things I can't knock it and it's still going strong now ... AND yes i would recommend it for a noobie to learn on as for the price tag of it's well worth the money if ya go to the next stage say a .30 size nitro which is what I did from only after 2 weeks with the mini pred ... So each has there own opinion and each has ther own Fave heli ..... Me as long as they look nice and fly OK then I am happy ........ no following the crowd for me...... Heck I now own 2 X nexus's and a Hawk Pro .30 which I killed the frame on it and cudda bought something diff ..... but I did not as I like these and know how they work and its abought enjoying the hobby at the end of the day for me .....Where I fly my fixed wing as well I have diff planes to most on the field as well ... keep smilin'

My twister CP started out fine but after a number of crashes it is very unstable and as I didnt build it I dont think I know what to put right. I am now having lessons instead and will practice on my TREX which I am currently building (all my bits arrive this week)
The older I get, the faster I was!

Twister CP (wont bother with that any longer)
Will be a Blitz Avro when I can fly safely

i had a mini pred just to see if i enjoyed it,no one is saying they are great(well they might be)it isnt, but what it does do is allow you to learn the basics without falling apart or self destruct,i dought very much it would do any proper 3D without somthing going wrong,if all you want to do is see if helis are your thing and just learn to hover and do some slow 8s then i would say the mini pred is ideal,im sure if you were used to flying quality stuff it is a pile of poo,i will find out when i get my TREX SE V2 in the air ,i sold mine for £150 so it only cost me £50,

having had a dragonfly 36 I know what you mean by a pile of poo, not very good in fact it only got airborne once! I have seen a mini pred and it looked too close to the same design to make me want one (everything I didn't like in the dragonfly but with a different name)...so I went for a Trex 450 and while im having set up issues due to a c**p gyro/tail servo combo, the physical kit is very good, ive had it in a hover all be it with a very waggy tail and it feels very stable.

I know people say go with a 30/50 size but it you don't have the space go for a trex.
