  • Help Before I Loose The Will To Live - Gyro Problems

I have a Hummingbird 3d Pro which I have built up and everything seems to be working mechanically/electrically OK with the exception of the bl**dy gyro (a Century Heading Hold gyro) which came with the kit.

When I spin up, the helecopter spins like a top.

I have adjusted the gain to 80%, still spins. Have reversed the servo - still spins.

    I have Futaba 6EXH radio

Channel 5 is connected to gyro

    Is the gyro knackered?

    Is it me?

    Any thoughts on set-ups.

PS - have been back to shop today who set up the gyro but didn't test. When I got home and tested it - STILL SPINNING LIKE A TOP

Hi there, you have tried reversing the servo have you tried reversing the gyro, if there is no jumper or switch or whatever you may need to turn the gyro around 180 degrees. I'm not familiar with your gyro (or many gyros come to think of it) so dont know anything more sorry.

      Hi

Just a correction to Cols post, think he meant to say flip the gyro over by 180 degrees so it is upside down compared to how it is now.
Turning it around 180 Degrees won't make any differnce!

      Cheers

To test its not in need of reversing try the following

Put a left rudder command in and check to see that the tailblades would indeed give a left yaw..ie normally lower blade leading edge goes to the right
Make a note of which way the servo arm moves to give that left command

Now twist the heli slowly to the right and check to see that the servo arm gives the same left command,if it goes the opposite way the gyro needs reversing by turning it upside down or rightway up depending on which way it is at the moment

                    Please clarify:

Is this Head - Wife - Helicopter or Gyro ?

PS Does sound like Gyro (rather than servo) is reversed - you have checked blades on right way round - no slop in tail rotor drive train

                      definitely helli and gyro.

Wife depends on what time of the month it is and how long you want to get trapped in a place with lots of men of questionable ethics

however using this treatment could either be used last so you dont have to spend time in the nasty sounding place or you could do it first to save the effort of doing the other 2 as once your finished with this head treatment the rest wont matter :-)
