hi all, purchased a 2nd hand rappy 30 in May of this year and have had once of these on since?Automatic Glow Igniter with Indicator

don't really no how it works or how to work it? so took it off and used a remote glow instead, now iv looked at what it is I want it back on heli

Anyone got this mounted on their heli? and how it all works and the setup?

    help appreciated

    cheers

Having a look at it, it is getting the power from via your rx, the twin wire with the servo connection plugs into your tx and you connect the black wire to the engine mounting bolt (earth) and the red cap onto the glow plug. mount switch and control box on frame. push button start engine presto..

      Using these on my 700's.

Very simple to install and use.

Plug the power lead into any spare connector on your receiver for the power, You can even use a splitter.

Fasten the earth lead to your engine and the switch anywhere that is good for you and bingo..

Press the red button to activate and start your engine..

Yeah, I have a couple of these units. Make sure you have a good earth. Also the wires going onto the push button and/or the LED can break, causing it not to work. Other than that they are good.
As was said, they get their power from the receiver, so keep a check on your RX battery level.

okay thats great, thanks for the help fella's, will get that setup. by the way though when I did initially push the button it did seem to zap the power for my receiver, is this just temporary until the ignition light goes out? apprently it is 20 seconds? is that how long I have to start the engine? sorry still very green

          cheers

Yeah, it stays on for 20 secs. Get your starter in and ready, open up the fuel line, press the red button for glow and away you go !

Err, 3 spare switch glows ? Mmmm ? Maybe ? How old and how much please ?

Isnt this the same as a switchglow? I thought that it worked in exactly the same way as this Prolux one? In fact the latest Switchglow supports a higher input voltage so could be powered directly from a 2S Li-Po (pre regulator).

Got one fitted to a 700, does anyone else have the servos buzzing when activated. As soon as it times out it's fine, the led doesn't work either

Clearly you have been sold a pup! lol. LEDs are pretty reliable things and if that isn't working I think the unit as a whole has a fault of some kind. Glow ignitors that work from a higher voltage usually have some form of oscillator circuit that has an on to off time ratio that gives an effective 1.5 volts out when connected to a glow plug. As you say the servos are chattering when it is on suggests that some form of interference suppression is not working.

In any case you know you can't beat a bit of wire and a crocodile clip.

Oh it'll be a wire and croc clip mod for sure Andy, like me simple is as simple does

The odd thing it works okay so the glow driver itself is working. Just a bit odd and curious that it causes the noise it does
