              I give in!!

Tell you what. I'll compromise XH558, I'll buy one and I'll make one.

              I can then compare

Highlander. The one I saw on a heli had the Rx aerial cut to length (just long enough to route tidily) and soldered to the terminal on the base of the aerial.

quick UK one is prettier though
That should smarten up a £1500 quid Futaba tranny!!

Good idea. Saves a few bob! But should the tranny and rcvr have matched aerials?

Does that 4" apply to a quick base loaded too? Or just a made-up one?

I would imagine they are made exactly the same way so yes.

with the Quick one you are paying extra for a nice machined ally choke cover

You know that screwdriver thing you have with a mains plug on it that gets hot on one end ...... yes that's it - your soldering iron ...... well you solder it on
                        (sorry couldn't resist that )
Carefully trim your existing RX aerial wire to exactly 4" - then solder that to one end of the choke (10 microhenry) wire (trimmed short) - then solder the other trimmed end of the choke wire to exactly 7" of 35amp mains inner copper wire - and shrink wrap the soldering ... then as pretty coloured bling add some protective tube over the mains copper wire with a natty black end cap as per my links previously given. Eh voila

Well you could try cutting the TX aerial down to 4" too - to match - but it may not work so good

Looking at those pics, 4" does not allow much to get the aerial lead away from the Rx, (mine is in the nose) down the skid and located. The one in the pic is on what looks like a rear mounted Rx and is angled.

Front mounted would not allow getting the aerial far away from the other electrics, esp on an electric heli.

Has anyone got a set of instructions for a Quick UK base loaded?. What length does it say to cut the aerial lead to? The one I saw mounted on a Trex 600 at the weekend had at least 8 - 10 inches of lead. Aerial was mounted well away from ESC/motor etc

                            Thanks all
