  • Best servo for a GY401

    Hello,

I have two helicopters a T Rex XL and an old Robbe Moskito Basic.

At the moment i am using a GY401 Gyro on the T Rex with a miniture Hitec servo (i think it is an HS50 but can't be definite as i am away at sea at the moment).
The Moskito currently has a non heading hold Gyro that i have been told is pretty **** with an old Futaba servo that is very slow.

I am going to buy a GY401 to fit to the Moskito as this will give me some much needed control.

My question is (after a bit of waffle) i would like to buy digital servos for both tails. Is there one that will suit both so i can swap if i wreck one? If not which would be the best one for each individual tail.

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris.

PS Sorry if this should be in a different forum!

in a rex the 9650 is the nuts and for any thing bigger a 9254 is the way to go.
    hope this helps

If you can't afford the 9650 for the Trex, then the HDS-577 is possibly the next best and is much cheaper.

          Hi Chaps,

          Thanks for the replies.

I will definately get the 9254 for the Moskito as i will buy it as a package with the GY401.

Regarding the T Rex is either of the servos more robust (9650/HDS577) as on two occaisions on crashing i have damaged the hitec servo gears? Both times i just replaced the broken bits and off it went again, will it be easier to overhaul one the two choices. I don't mind buying the 9650 if it gives the best handling but if i am going to wreck it fairly easily i might go for the MDS577.
On a side note will the T Rex handle the digital servo ok using the normal ESC output to the servos?

Both the 9650 and the HDS-577 are digital servos and are fine on the Trex.
If you can afford it, get the 9650 - no contest.

            Cheers,
