nitro heli...?

so ive been looking at nitro heli's and have found it's probably about £1000 all up then need dx7 on top of that

but im not sure what to do and if i do do then what to go for?

would it be best to get a 50 size?

also im thinking that because im still in education that it would be a good idea to get bits gradually eg. monthly
good idea?

next question would be whats best to go for
been looking at loads of different ones and think its best to go for a trex600 or the vision 50
which would be best?

and last but not least what would be best to put into heli eg servos and engine?

how long it a piece of string ?? thats about it .. cheap and cheerful then it has to be either the align stuff or vision ... but like anything you get what you pay for .. if ya just learning I would stick with the Raptors and look at there combo deals .. then its just electronics on top of it ...

Im thinking the same thing but its very hard to decide on what to buy.

One problem with a big heli is that a crash can be expensive.
There is no point in saving up for months to build one if you are too afraid of a repair bill to fly it properly. Or worse be unable to fix it if you bend it.

I think second hand might be a good way to keep the costs sensible.. but you need to research carefully before you buy anything.

Hi i think probably a raptor have one as my first nitro heli and it's great, Easy to get parts easy to fix and fly's great. Plenty of help with setup on this forum, I think a lot of people have started with a raptors and progress from there. I bought mine second hand from another club member so i saw it fly before i bought it, and he help me set it up. That i think is the best way to buy second hand.

I agree with Derrick I brought a second hand Raptor off another member on this forum and I saw her fly first at my new local club

I started this hobby with a Raptor 30 v2..which I upgraded to a 50 about a year later..so yes i would say a Raptor is a good beginners machine. Stable as well as quite sturdy..mine has taken a few heavy landings in its time without much consequence. Parts for a 50 size are readily available too..

My first nitro was my Rappy 30 well it was my first ever heli
it is a good heli is the Raptor 30 and my tx is my dx6i
so you would not realy need to change your tx

Just keep your eye out on here or bmfa as there is some good deals for second hand but well looked after helis about,esp raptors or a trex 600.

I'm a "newbie" too and I'm loving my T-rex 600. I would think your logic of about £1000 would not be too far off though. However I flew my 600 with a DX6i. You only need the 7th channel if you want to use a governor.

I did buy myself a DX7 but have yet to fit the governor.

Buy and fly a simulator first

Then buy the best Transmitter you can afford, as this will be with you for the longest time, then get a cheap heli to start out, secondhand Raptor 30/50 or Trex600 or . . . .
