  • At last..... I've got my msr : )

Yup got a call from the shop today.

    Its in they said.
Didn't need to ask what it was that was in, just said I'm on my way.
Was in through the shop door before they could put the phone down
Got it home whipped it out of the box, stuck the lipos in the charger and admired my new toy. 5 minutes later both lipos were cooked. (Great charger by the way)
Right I said lets get this thing bound to the tx. Would it bind?...... No tried over and over it just wouldn't have it.
Ok I thought Ill try it with my lp5dsm tx....... Still no joy
Back to the shop tx and heli in hand. Seems I had a faulty one as they couldn't get anything to bind with it either.
Anyway they opened up another one and Bingo! Bound straight away
    Now to the fun bit.
Tx on (in half mode for first go) Throttled up and lifted off. Had the usual slide to the left but just a tad of right aileron soon took care of that and she was away.
had to trim her out a bit and in the end had to lengthen the aileron servo link slightly but other than that its a great little bird and Im loving it. Very stable, but lean on the stick a bit and whoosh.....Hello walls here I come
Let go of the stick and the little bird settles down quite nicely. Ok T rex it aint, but its no mcx either.
Have flown about five times so far and Im loving it

Hi ya, glad you like your new toy. Now that the weather is starting to be a bit unpredictable and the wind is picking up I think my Blade 400 3D might be finding a lot of time in the cupboard. So I was looking at this little baby to get me through winter and hopefully a bit more accustomed to heli flying. What I'd like to know is which hobby/model store did you get it from as I wouldn't mind placing an order ASAP.

    Regards

Huh, only got my Blade down the field about 2ce So tossing between one of these and a Buzzy 6ch.... Buzzy's dearer but which would be more fun? I would like the Msr as it's a Blade, which would be nice.. you know, coax blade, 4ch Blade, and B400... Nice set.

Glad you're liking it m8, it looks a sound little bit of kit, typical HH if you ask me.

Buzz Fly BNF is 78gbp which is about the same price as the MSR isn't it?
I think the full packages might be slightly more expensive.
Something that I did see that was quite nice was that the Buzz Fly also comes in a 3D version.

So the question is, which is more capable of the two?

All I can say is, I wouldn't want to be flying 3D in my living room, Uh Uh, No way

I know it would be crazy eh. However the same can be said for the MSR and the Buzz Flyer standard. Which is the better of the two?

Is one a better performer than the other. Is one more stable? Does one have cheaper replacement parts?

Would really like to know as I would like an indoor model to play around on and so far I've looked at the MSR, Quark and the Buzz Flyer. Quark is way to expensive. The MSR is within my price range and I already have a Blade 400 3D so happy with the E-Flite helis. However the Buzz Flyer 3D looks interesting if I wanted to attempt 3D flying indoors in my living room.

Well I haven't got any first hand knowlege of the Buzz flyer, but I have had a couple of Walkera helis and I was not impressed. I have a 4G1fp at present and its a pile of poo
Perhaps someone else could advise you on the Buzz Flyer, it may be quite good for all I know.

picked one up today! im no heli flyer having only flown a cx2 and crashed a blade 400 straight away.

Anway charged and binded in to my dx6i and i flew 2 batterys without a crash! only had a small room but hover is stable after a bit of a trim and it flys very nicely. Cant wait to get it into a bigger area!

I don't know about the Buzz, but you can't compare the mSR and the Quark - two completely different machines, with different capability and different flight and performance envelope. I got my mSR today from Inwoods £84 for the BnF a really great machine, but a Quark it aint! Quark also is no 3D machine.

Well can you elaborate to what the differences are. I've purchased a Blade 400 3D and haven't managed to get it off the ground into flight and hovering as yet (too windy). So what I was looking for was a mini/micro version of it for flying around the house. I know having a machine that performs identically to the Blade 400 3D is impossible without flying the Blade 400 3D, just wanted something that will allow me to get the gist of taking off/landing, hovering and manoevering. At the moment I'm just racking up the hours in Phoenix but want something a tad more fun

Well, the Buzzfly (Walkera 4#3) BNF will need a 'special' Walkera transmitter. The mSR should be able to use any DSM2 transmitter (such as your DX6i).

Just being able to use a proper tx is a big big plus point in my book. I'll be very tempted to try transplanting the mSR electronics into the 4#3...

The 4G1 (3d Buzzfly) is a completely different kettle of phish.

So have you had the luxury of flying a buzzfly 3d? I thought they looked quite reasonably priced.

Just ordered my MSR from Sussex Helicopters

Unfortunately not. However, the advantage of fixed pitch design is fewer moving parts and thus less to break. Given the agility of the 4#3, I'm not sure the 4G3 would last long in my hands...
