hi all is the sanwa vg 6000 tx ok for helis
    thanks martyn

Ideally no, the two best to go for are either Futaba or JR. I suppose you could say Sanwa is to the model industry what the likes of Skoda was to the car industry a few years ago.

Whilst it isnt too bad, but to some extent that is debatable, the brand image certainly isnt very good, you will find that not many people will have experience of that set, so you will find getting help with it very difficult.

    Cheers,
    Pete.

It all depends on what you term as silly cheap, as an example a new one with receiver, 4 servos, crsytals and chargers is going for a shade under £108 on Midland Helis site and that is brand new.

I have checked the spec's for this radio, I think I would make some enquiries as to whether it can handle heli functions, as they are not mentioned explicitely in the spec's whereas most other radios with multi functions list their abilities, usually as fixed wing, glider and heli.

          Here is the spec's so you can check it out yourself;

It doesn't appear to have CCPM functions so that would limit you to 90 degree swashplates only - which is very limiting - if you thought it worth buying to just change the radio in your Walkera then OK but don't count on being able to use it for anything else in the heli line.

The Sanwa RD8000 is fine - does all CCPM stuff and is very heli friendly.

                But that's a diffreent transmitter!!!!

I've got a Sanwa RD6000 that I started with, which is heli-capable, and that I had to upgrade very soon as I had to keep it hidden in a plain paper bag when I went to the field! They all turned their noses up at it and simply wouldn't even try to assist in setting it up.

Three pitch & throttle points only, so limited to learning only really.

Go for the Futaba 7 or JR. That's probably why it's silly cheap.

I have had an RD6000 Super with 5 point curves and most of the stuff my jr has, dosnt do 90degree ccpm though so it had to go. but it was an OK TX had no problems with it.

Did get a bit of flak from people, but they didnt know why when asked. Most said "its just a Sanwa" but couldnt name a fault.

the Rd6000 sport is a bit limiting with 3 point curves though.

i can name a few straight off the top of my head

                      1) very naff feeling mechanics
                      2) not enough switchs to give proper control of a heli and all its functions
                      3) very poor GUI, difficult to navigate, not enough feed back through the screen.

They look and feel a bit Fisher Price

JR and Futaba have worked out that as most flyers are men, if they make their transmitters really shiney, with lots of noises when you press a button, then every bloke worth his salt will want(HAVE) to buy one
