  • Best throttle curve

    Hi all
What in your opinion is the best throttle curve setting for a beginner linear or exponential.

What model are you flying? What radio are you using?

I am using expo on both my 500 and 600.

Most of the Aligns, fair few Spektrum bits, bunch of Align & HiTec servos, OBE, VD & Bar.

On my trex 600 normal mode i only have 80% max power mid/hover i start at 60%. Now when first used with head rubber i have it has a wobble. So i up the mid range till it stops. Sounds very low but i don't use it much but good for gentle flying.
Idle up U shape not a V as explained to me works better on gears. And gov sorts rest out.
        Using tacho 1920 works for me, 3D 2150 << but i don't

          0, 80, 80, 80, 80 in normal.

          85, 85, 85, 85, 85 in Idle 1

          100, 100, 100, 100, 100 in Idle 2

very dependant on pilot ability, leccy or nitro, 30, 50 etc...
a 100% flat line that suits a leccy for idle 2 will kill a nitro motor in a pretty short space of time.. a hyper 50 on a trex600 or raptor rarely needs more than 35% at centre for hovering and FF. etc, etc.
need more detail from you fella.

yep depends on model I guess, but im running 100% flatline on both my models

As its electric I would run 100% flatline for posistive pitch, so something like 0,50,100,100,100

This will make the switch to idle up much better and will also help with tail authority (higher headspeed)

If you have problems with battery duration or if the headspeed seems very high then try dropping it down to 90%

With an electric you dont need to worry about overspeeding the motor like you do on a nitro so setting the throttle curve is easy.

ok, hes already mentioned that its for a beginner, i wouldnt start throwing in idle 1,2 until you can hover and start doing circuits which require flat line throttles curves

                    start with 0 25 50 75 100 in normal mode....
learn how to hover then start moving on to flat line throttles

what sort of pitch you got set up on the heli also?

                    just my verdict of course
If You Cant Dazzle' Em With Brilliance, Baffle' Em With emmmm you know the rest

I think its easyer to fly with a flat curve with a small electric as you get a higher headspeed which is more stable and better tail performance.

If the heli is too twitchy on the collective you can always change the pitch curve to make it more dosile.

Also, eventually he will want to start using idle up and using a flat curve will make that transition much easyer, as the heli will perform exactly the same when in positive pitch.

The only real disadvantage of a flatline throttle is that its less efficent and you might lose some flight time, but I get tired after a 5 min flight anyway
