They have actually just released one, S3115, to compete with the Hitec ones but I'd not try it as Ashley says the 56/65 servos do the job really well and are the servo of choice.Phil

Just looking at transmitters and is the Futaba 6EXH ok as a starter radio. I am not going to be getting into this too seriously as i will still be racing the cars most of the time, so as long as it does what i will need then i will be happy. Been offered that radio (35Mhz) with reciever and GY401 Gyro for £115 new, waiting for reply on the prices of he servos

the 7c is worth the extra money. its much easier to use and more flexible. You will grow into a 7c rather than out grown a 6exh

But what advantages will the 7C give me over a 6EXH? I understand the advantages of good transmitters as both of these are cheaper than my 2ch radio i use for racing, but is the 6EXH not good enough. This is really a second hobby, so i will not be taking it as serious as some, and if it is going to be too expensive then i am likely to not do anything.

Well i think its a bit better than that as the cheapest 2ch doesn't have any expo, adjustable end points or anything like that its literally 2 sticks, 2 trims and an ariel. However i still see people racing with 15 quid transmitters, and pretty much everyone starts off with one, when they get their first kit. If you get serious into it all, you upgrade, if not you stay with the entry level kit.
I know this is not an amazing bit of kit, but especially when i can get hold of one from my RC car supplier for £55, if i want to upgrade at a later date, I could get most of my money back on ebay.

the problem is that for the total amount of money you spend an extra 60ukp isnt much. for that reason the second hand value of the 6exh isnt anywhere near as good as it should be even on ebay.

I came from largescale offroad racing and by chance bought everything that nobody would have recomended.

My radio is 10yrs old a jrx388s, its a good but not modern radio but I cant see any features that the 6exh hasnt got that I use while learning. So if it does the job for that price it must be worth it.
Midland sell the gyro on its own for £85 so youre getting the Tx and Rx for £40. they sell that Tx for £149 with an Rx and 4x 3001 servos which are a tenner each which leaves it at £109. Its a good price.
In my opinion if its out grown for £40 it dosnt matter, especialy as youre on a budget.

Thats what i was wanting to know, if the 6EXH has all the functions i will need then what is the need for anything better at this stage. I can get the TX and RX for £53.50 and the Gyro for £59. I have asked for the price on the 7C, but i would really like to stick to a fairly tight budget.

No worries !
I have the Futaba gear before the 6EXH (6XHS) and this stood me in good stead (I recently upgraded to the 9C) - the 6EXH is quite markedly improved on this with model naming, 5 point curves and Tx gyro sensitivity - the only obvious difference (besides extraneous extra channels and knobs and switches and electric trims) is just the one rather than 3 idle up modes. In short it looks a bloody good system and I am sure it would do you very nicely for a year or two !John

I am sure it is better than what i am using now. I have an Esky system that I have borrowed to use on the FMS simulator, i believe it is what came with my uncle's Honeybee CP2. Its ok for learning the controls, but could do with a sub trim etc as I can get the trims set perfectly.
