  • A Beginners Shopping List?

I'm hoping for some advice on what I need to be putting on my shopping list...

I'm leaning more towards the Trex 600 Super Pro, but if we ignore that it comes with a Govenor, regulator etc... what do I need on my shopping list?

Including tools, common crash parts - basically EVERYTHING needed to get up and running

I'm a bit baffled - what heli flying experience do you have?? If none, then straight into Trex 600 could be v painful on your wallet!!

I'm sure others will soon be coming for your help.

If your're new to this forum, then welcome to this fantastic forum.

      Cheers

Just what I was after, perfect!

What about a good crash kit? What should I consider buying to put in a crash kit?

Also, out of that kit list - what will I get in the Trex 600 Super Nitro Pro Kit?

          Thanks for the warm welcome

          My flying experience is zilch

But i'm sure my rc heli venture wont be as painful on the wallet as the wife

I do plan on taking things slowly - i.e, purchase a flight sim, go through the whole build process, understand the aircraft etc...

Then move onto attempting to fly.

I have a bit of land where i can practice till my heart is content.

I have weighted up all the pros and cons of going cheap then upgrading - to going 50 size first off - it may be painful but I feel buying one heli is better than two, and from feedback I've had, I should have a much better flying experience with a 50 nitro...

it looks like your set on a trex, most of the crash parts are packed in twos
            boom
            mainshaft
            feathering spindle
            flybar
            main blades
            skid set
            boom stays
rotor head link set plus spare link ends
if you go for the pro/super pro
            torque tube
tail drive gear set (a few of)
            tail output shaft

            servo gears
            glow plugs

if you go for the sport then you don't need the tail drive gears and torque tube

and if you have a bad crash main frames

sorry i don't know what comes in the nsp kits/combo deals

Your best bet is choose a shop or web site contact them then ask whats needed & the cost.
Reading your heading (beginners list) I assume
you dont have TX so cost wise you've got to be looking at 1500 quid plus spares.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

Alright mate and welcome to the forum.
If i was you i wouldn't be getting a Trex 600,especially not the super pro which has a torque tube,Better with something smaller and belt driven as a beginner. To give you an idea,I have been into this hobby for goin on nearly 3 years and I would still be a little apprehensive about getting a 600.
One crash is going to cost you £££££
And this land you are talking about flying on? is it private, safe, you have permission, insurance? cos any heli should be flown at a club, especially in your case where your just starting out.
                Cheers Grant.

If your fixed on having a 50 Nitro - then look also at the new Raptor 50 and the Velocity 50 the raptor brand has longer years in the game and the new 50 version I hear and have seen it fly very nice. Then there is also the recently launched Velocity 50 which is without being too biased having had an NSP in the past very impressive.
                  Cheers

Its my land, very safe and open - no houses but my own.

Think I will be giving Fast Lads Performance a call tomorrow - they seem to be reputable with good prices...

i have to agree on the raptor 50 titan se
its a fine looking machine, a chap in one of my clubs has one, the only thing he realy could do with doing to it is to take off the 3d pipe and put the smoothy pipe on it for his level of flying ablity

                          ..
All seems A1 and v wise move IMO -- Sim route is the best -Phoenix Sim is the best at the mo but you'll need a Transmitter - if you can afford it then go for Spectrum DX7i (you wouldn't need upgrading then) or else buy a used Dx6i (@£50) -that should be your starter kit.

Unfortunately I dont have the privelege of a local club

I have looked at the raptor alot, and it was my initial choice until i looked into the trex. Based on reviews from owners, it seems the trex blows the socks off the raptor.

I will look into the Velocity, never really looked at it in detail...

Even though you fly on your own land I recommend a Club to join so you can get the helicopter set up and basics on starting the heli and flying it

through out learning you'll also find sometimes its good to fly with others for company and **** taking

As for who to use shop wise I recommend you ring around a few shops for best prices, Any of the Site Sponsor's here are worth looking at

I think most of us use 3-4 main shops when it comes to parts for the hobby
