I started on small electrics, neon blaze, mini titan, twister heli's, got a rappy 30 in may this year, never looked back, nothing beats it
No waiting for batteries to charge, then silly 6-8 minutes flights when you pay £30-40 for batteries. As a learner myself never felt I learned enough with the small electrics, by the time something clicks into place with your flying your battery is dying.
With a good battery pack to power your electrics on your rappy(when you get one)you will learn more due to longer, much longer flight times.
Parts are not that expensive, and i have found its not too thirsty on the fuel.

        cheers

Can anyone advise anywhere that sells raptor 30's/cheap combo deals. They seem to be few and far between - plenty Rappy 50's!

            here are 2 options

            Model Shop Leeds

            Midland Helicopters

I would go with an OS37 engine rather than the 'combo' TT39 though

                Yeah it was

I get bored too easily - and i'm house bound for the next 6-8 wks

I would like something to 'play' with whilst building for the nxt couple mnth, and I didnt really want to 'play' with a Trex 600 NSP. I can get a Rappy 50 kit pretty cheap

anth.payne Although my preference is electric, there is no reason not to go for a bigger nitro machine if that is your bag.... and you could seriously reduce your crash count and crash costs with a Helicommand.

I do and my Helicommand has definitely paid for itself in saving me from some definite imminent big crashes (but not all of 'em!).

                        FI you are buying new:
When you know roughly what you want, give either your local model shop, and/or the major suppliers (skyline, fast-lad, Leeds, midlands, revolution, midland) the chance to quote you on the job lot. They will make a few suggestions for some of the items.
The bottom line from a single supplier should be attractive even compared to the best price you can find for each part from different places. Plus with a decent order value the supplier is always more willing to help out should any poblems occur.
