I've yet to see a good reason why people say this though.

A well designed mechanical CCPM system such as is used on the Raptor Titan 50 SE is a lot easier to set up and has none of the interaction issues that come with an eCCPM approach. I remain unsure what benefits you think changing to eCCPM would bring?

Can hardly claim it inhibits 3D performance when you look at some of the recent videos of what can be achieved with the new model.

Horses for courses..trex 600 NSP is 3D biased. Light, fast, quick on the controls, cheap to repair, (except frames)..Not really a hovering model but one that likes to be flown at all times...kinda a max fun model

Raptor..More stable and Hover friendly..flies more akin to FAI Style, bit long in the tooth now.

Pinion brgs, problamatic tail system, control system gets sloppy, one ways. If you break a flybar in flight your doomed!..

      No heli is without problems..

All depends what you want to do, both are great for learning, but if 3d is where you want to go then no brainer go for the 600, if sports flying is your thing raptor is perfectly ok, and can still 3d, but not as well as the 600. Also trex parts are cheeper overall

Raptors are old news! use same gear in a Raptor and a Trex, set them up properly and the winner is obvious.

again depends what you are doing with it, if it was an F3C competition I'd rather be flying the Raptor.

i'm sure that in time like most of us, this guy will probably buy more than one heli as time goes on.

I've been in this hobby since Jan and i'm on heli no 3 and i'm sure it won't be the last.

I personally have gone for the Rappy although it was a tough call between the 600 - what swung it for me was really the club i fly at. Most of the individuals there fly raptors so there will always be someone to give advice and knowledge should any issues arise.

i'm still at a very basic sport flying level so a bit more stability (in wind) will not be wasted on me.

Yeah the bottom line is you won't wrong with either choice (or indeed an alternative like Ely.Q or Knight etc.) and as long as it is built and setup properly it should be fine. Then later you can get something else if you want a change or whatever.

Naaaa! That'd be way too much!

I just spent 2 hours putting the new gears in that power the torque tube, I had to get the engineering place next door to make me up a rig to get the bearings onto the crown gear straight, then reassembled it. Lots of funny noises from the block so did it all again, after putting them in, taking them out putting them in taking them out, its now making a noise like a steam driven combine harvester! And all the silly little screws have stripped n tthe silly little long hexagonal bolt things.

I hate this thing so much I'd set fire to it only I havent even got enough money left to buy a box of matches!!!

And by the way, to those folk blaming the Kasama head for all my troubles, its hardly Kasama's fault that the mounting for the tail servo leaves the lead dragging on the clutch bell, hardly Kasama's fault that the veritcal tail fin is so short it means that if you land on anything other than a bowling green the tail blades touch the grass, hardly Kasama's fault that if the tail blades do strike anything like a small daisy it strips the gears, hardly Kasama's fault that when you do want to carry out any sort of repair all the screws and bolts thread and strip everywhere, they'd have been better off making all their fixings out of bl**dy plasticine!!

Before you buy either check the spares availability and prices. Some Raptor parts seem to be out of stock on a regular basis - unforgivable for a heli which used to be No.1. In contrast it almost seems that the corner shop sells Align spares these days, then look at the prices, most of the Align regularly needed items come in packs of two for around the same price as one of the Raptor equivalents. The price of the Thunder Tiger kits have come down but I still think the spares prices are too high.

Your original gripe was that it taken you 3 hours to try and set up and could only manage a short hover and that you can't work out the gyro settings.

Then you state that it's got a kasama head and now you are just Pi$$ed off 'cause everybody as rightly said that a standard 600 is not difficult to set up and blamed it on the kasama head.

If you can't set it up, sell it and buy another raptor and stop griping at others who rightly state that it's not difficult. Even the guy who helps you have 5 that fly perfectly!

Well, there are also tons of Raptor spares available 2nd hand and with a little foresight you can pick up lots of the common items cheap.
