  • training gear failed

Had a big whoops today , not really sure how it happened but i believe the training gear failed and one of the legs shot up which the main blade hit and jammed it between the tail boom .

Damage so far looks like one tail boom , main blades , flight bar and a main gog as it has stripped the teeth .

One thing i have notiched with the esky is that i found it very hard to attach the training gear so ended up using large tie clips . Is there any better safer training gear on the market ?

Also the batt keeps moving about so i have secured it with lock wire

    Cheers jamie

i think all training gear is the same, i tried some plastic clips that came with my training gear but they just snapped after a bit of a heavy landing, after that i just used cable ties.

i did super glue the rods into the centre holder aswell coz they kept coming out

super glue the ends in (as above) and rubber bands as the rubber provides friction to make it hold and not slide about unlike cable ties.

Way back years ago i use to hook the rubber band around the skid leg...then wrap it round the training gear leg and then hook it back over the landing skid leg. never came off

you'll most likely find you've bent the feathering shaft and possibly mainshaft as well

I make up hubs for training gear using the green bottle tops of milk bottles

They are softish, and flex nicely, and last for ever.
