hello, following crash and advice fitted new ESC to blade 400 and nothing happening except motor is rapidly moving back and forth ,even without main shaft and gears in doing the same, found out first battery had faulty cell could this have screwed something up after/during crash? Any thoughts bearing in mind this is brand new with only 10 seconds of flight.

my first guess: The motor is running only on two phases. Could be the wiring (the three wires between motor/ESC). Could be the motor. Could be the ESC.
It's one of those diabolical schemes to get your money: A broken ESC may destroy the motor. A broken motor may destroy the ESC. Go figure
Have a look at the motor, use a bright lamp and look inside: Any signs that one of the coils looks darker than the others (or are they all toasted? Does it smell like it's burnt)?
The same with the ESC - Phosphorus smell (like a burning match) means the magic smoke has found its way out.Woohoohoohoohoohoohoohoohoohoohoo -Barbra Streisand

Hmmm, strange one. the motor case is not jammed is it, power plugs are correctly match in colour, check main gear is not binding. Esc power leads correctly connected as in black to black and red to red etc.Mike, 3rd Hampton Scout GroupSpectrum DX7

Have you programmed the new ESC so it knows what to do on your particular installation?
Which ESC is it?

this is a long shot, but it has happened to me, i unwittingly dropped a screw inside the vent holes on the motor & it jammed it , does the motor turn freely by hand with no power ? ( i,e battery not connected ) and if so is it smooth & slick with no stops or binding when turned by hand ?
also did you re-bind transmiter to reciever after fitting new ESC ? this might help ?Last edited by stuskimac; 18-08-2009, 04:38 AM.

Does sound like a supply issue, as if the motor is "single phasing" ie only has power / using power on two of the phases.
Do you have access to a multimeter of some form, would be well worth checking to see if you are getting all 3 phases off the speed controller, also it's worth checking the motor windings just in case.
If you have or can get a meter and you're unsure what to check, give me a shout and I'll talk you through it

If I know HH even half as well as I think I do, the wait will be worth it. I've been through it with my Blade in the past, though admittedly not her fault bless her, all my lack of ability to fly. However she is a lovely heli, and once you get her into that first steady hover mate you'll realise you love it to bits. I've had mine for 14 months now, and although people say you will outgrow it quickly I disagree, I still love mine.John
