The way I teach people to hover nose in is by getting them to think of it the following way.

Look at the tail, its the same as looking at the nose when hovering tail towards you.

Also when it drifts, what ever direction it drifts, the correct way to compensate is by moving the cyclic stick in the same direction.

Keep these things in mind and its a lot easier to get your head arround it.
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I found that a small mental trick helped me a lot, if I got uncomfortable while the heli was nose in I just turned myself 90 degrees left and the heli is now flying past with a little bit of forward cyclic. In my early days I also found it easier to have a little bit of forward cyclic trim on, this meant that the heli would keep moving forward if I let the cyclic stick centre, when the heli's facing you I find it much easier to hold back cyclic than to push the stick forward.

Your better to goto Lazy 8's then figure 8's Now the Figure 8 is the key!

Now flying figure of 8's the OO kind where the 2 Loops meet is where it will fly nose in for a short time before you fly and turn.

Now the important thing is to SLOW the Figure of 8 down at the approach towards yourself and keep slowing it down get used to turning out to continue the figure 8 BUT Slow it down every time and then it will JUST click and you'll have it in the Hover and when your ready you will turn gentle out of nose in to fly around
Bang on best way to learn you'll find it will natually happen doing that way.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

,,,sound's like the way forward to me (please excuse the pun )
I took the Titan to work today and had a good half hour hovering around the stock yard, got her side on, went for nose in, got there, then bottled it as I thought of all the time I've just spent setting her up nicely,,,not to mention the cash spent on parts,,,(no,,,really, please don't mention it, 'er indoors may get to hear )

As with any new maneuver you must have a definite escape route burned into your brain on the sim.

Or you could just hover in front of a very large mirror, and just look at the 'tail-in' reflection !

I sorta learnt the way Mark said .. But because I flew planes before helis the flying forward towards myself never bothered me that much ... now the keeping it still nose in did for a while so I just slowed it down and down till I could hover nose in ... TBH I dont really hover nose in much now and just like to fly around the sky ... Try nose in for a bit then try something else that takes the strain off that you enjoy doing then go back to trying it .. Too much of it can fry your brain lol...

I am starting to learn nose in using the figure of 8 method.. Although my figures of 8s are not at the OO stage yet but its getting there.. I just keep turning the heli more towards me as i progress.. And find it a lot easier to controll the heli when it's flying towards me slow.. I tried a couple of times to hover nose in at height by starting tail in then spining the heli around.. think it lasted about 2 seconds before it went terrible out of shape.. But because of the height i had the time to spin it around and give it plenty of pitch to recover the situation..

                        Cheers,
